Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, January 01, 2022

Brian Scott

HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!!!! I hope all of you had a fun and exciting night last night, brining in the new year. Our big celebration here was down at the beach club where it was packed with pretty much everyone staying here enjoying the live sounds of our resident band, “House of Lancaster”  followed by DJ Whiskers. It’s officially 2022, and we all hope it will be a stellar year of waves and perfect surf… hopefully some BIG swells too… would be a nice cherry on top!!!  Feliz Año Nuevo!!!

Todays weather / mood was probably how most people felt after partying the night away. It was a bit grey and gloomy, but the waves were super good and there were plenty of people out enjoying the misty cloudy surf up at the reef!

Brett, bringing in 2022 with some sick style with this big turn after the other 3 before it. That was him splitting the peak on the previous shot btw.

Here’s what our first day of the year down at the Playa looked like. Everyone out enjoying the new year before everyone has to go back to reality and work. Not a bad place to be for holiday though!

Good to see Hot Carl out there shredding amongst the other surfers. I know he likes himself some barrels over big mushy Pangas, but a surfers ritual is to hit  the waves the first day of the year (if there's in fact waves)… its kind of like a tradition…. plus the waves were kinda firing!

Brian Scott

Here he is again shredding this super long right on his backhand. Sick one buddy!!!

Looking back towards the hills, I was surprised to see it was more than likely going to rain, so I prepared to make my trek back down the beach where I started, just in case it did start to rain.

But then I kept seeing this…. UGH, so hard to leave waves like this, but better to have good working gear than wet soaked unusable gear. Haha

Yup, it was our official first little downpour of 2022. It should be clear, and screaming offshore right now this tiem of year, but then again everything isn’t what it seems in the world right now.

Walking back to my moto, the view out to sea was so much different as you can see. Such change and a little like an omen, of looking forward or ahead as opposed to back where it was all dark and gloomy.... looking ahead, where it looks so breahtaking & beautiful and amazing! Here’s to a new year amigos! Yewwwwww ~
