Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, December 08, 2023

Josh S

Hola amigos! Welcome to Friday’s surf report from Panga Drops. The size was similar to yesterday, but the wind was lighter which was nice.

Josh S

One of the coolest aspects of Panga Drops is that the wave is so long that you can often see surfers up and riding on multiple waves in the set at once. It’s hard to judge a contest here for that reason though.

Josh S

The tide was fairly high this morning while I was shooting, which made for some interesting back-wash barrels on the inside peak, colloquially known as “French Fries”.

Josh S

Hey hey! Check it out, Tony Z was out and about at French Fries this morning. Tony making a strong drive across the face look smooth. Style is definitely one of his strengths in surfing.

Josh S

Pangas showing its relative appeal for long-boarders. Plenty of space and time to begin working on transitioning from rail to rail, which leads to unlocking cutbacks.

Josh S

Speaking of cutbacks, here’s Marty lining up a drawn out roundhouse himself.

Josh S

The photo doesn’t quite do it justice, but he did well to carry his speed through the re-direct. If you look closely you can see some of the spray he’s displacing from the speed he had coming into the section.

Josh S

Aurelie projecting up and across the face of a punchy inside runner.

Josh S

Man, you didn’t have to flex on us this hard XD

Josh S

I think Bertie was wishing he was 10-15 meters further out here :) This was one of the better set waves I saw roll through all the way to the inside.

Josh S

Marty snagging a brief glimpse of tunnel vision on this left.

Josh S

French Fries flashing us its finest with this enticing mini-pipe. I should’ve brought my shortboard up there today!

Josh S

Marty doing some more slicing and dicing on rail.

Josh S

Bertie getting inverted with a critical end-section lip bash. Riding out of these near sideways maneuvers is very difficult so the judges throw some big points for completions.

Josh S

Small, but playful and clean waves. What’s not to smile about? Tatiana, Aurelie, and another amiga making the most of another beautiful Friday in paradise. Tomorrow is forecasted to be windier and slightly larger than today, but the forecast has been a little touch-n-go lately. In any case, I’ll see y’all tomorrow, have a good one!
