Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, September 29, 2023

Josh S

Howdy y’all! Friday surf report from Colorados coming your way. The surf definitely faded some this afternoon/evening, but there were still some corners to be had.

Josh S

The optimal strategy for short-boarders today was to aim for the double ups as they were hollower and gave you more speed through the drop.

This guy was fanning out his feathers here :)

Josh S

Check it out! We had a skilled long-boarder out there adding some variety to today’s surf action. He achieved a high wave count and was good getting some good rides.

Josh S

This guy was dominating the southern most peak today. He pretty much had it to himself so that’s a quick way to achieve a higher wave count during your session. Move into space!

Josh S

Rail to rail surfing was essential to success in today’s softer conditions.

Teeing up for liftoff! To the moon!?

Josh S

Ahhh, a fellow trackpad-less rider! I respect it. My primary reason for not using a trackpad is that they aren’t manufactured to handle the heat and humidity here in Nica thus leading to them peeling off within a week haha.

Josh S

This guy performed a well timed air on this end section, but unfortunately he just came unglued from the deck. I usually suffer the same fate when I, rarely, go for airs.

Five toes over the nose! Nice one bro. I always appreciate good surfing on unique or uncommon equipment. It opens your mind to different lines you can take on waves.

Josh S

Woah amigo, no need to get so snappy!

Josh S

A brave tube-hunter folding up at high tide and hoping for the best. Usually tube-hunting at high tide here is a hero’s challenge as the rare barrels that do come in tend to be very almondy.

Josh S

These smaller days are the ones where it burns the worst when you’re just out of position for sick ones… It happens to the best of us though!

Josh S

Some of the local kids had the idea of creating giant bubbles on the beach. It made for a unique scene with all these large clear orbs floating around. Anyways, that wraps up today’s action. Tomorrow looks like it should be bigger, so let’s hope for some barrels or steeper sections as well as more consistency. I see some pretty vicious onshore winds lurking a week out or so in the forecast range, so all of us surfers here better make hay while the sun still shines...
