Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, July 28, 2023

Josh S

Hola viewers! Welcome to the Friday Surf Report from Colorados. The swell filled in a bit more today, so a few additional tubes rolled through for our surfers today.

Josh S

There were some nice waves today, but definitely still a bit almondy and racey. I like this guy’s deep takeoff, but I hope he managed to squeeze a couple pumps in through this tube.

Josh S

Carlos de Colorados got barreled bodysurfing yesterday, and of course got some proper barrels today with the extra bit of swell size. Carlos has likely made this exact same sort of tube hundreds of times during his life. He has the experience and local edge out here!

Josh S

After getting shacked, per usual, Carlos finished this wave with his signature layback carve. If you’ve surfed with Carlos on a good day you’ve likely seen this one a few times!

Josh S

Finley was busting some of his own big moves out there this morning. Ditching his fins and sliding across the lip!

Josh S

This local fella getting cozy on his rail on this insider left. I like how he’s using and rotating his arms through this cutback.

Josh S

Another fella opting for a fin ditch like Finley. He chucked a nice fan of spray on those lucky (or unlucky) enough to be sitting behind him here.

Josh S

Finley shooting for the stars again! I still think he should slap a third deck pad up on the nose given how far up he slides his front foot during his airs!

Josh S

Seth wiping off some speed on this frothy medium sizer. Today the waves were still inconsistent, so it was a good move to catch any relatively good wave that came one’s way today.

Josh S

This local (I think) Nicaraguan fella logged some time in the shade today! He did well to find this super round right and tuck in with ease.

Josh S

The young guns were fired up today! This guy working on his helicopter spins today despite there being some tubes up for grabs.

Josh S

Nacho (I think this is this fellow’s name) is back again! He’s been surfing on his unique bright yellow board every day. It looks like he was also keen on staying in the shade today :)

Josh S

I don’t know what you’d call this move (Do you have any ideas reader?), but Asher got some crazy waves today. I would be pretty nervous trying to ride out of this move, but Asher had the bull by the horns here!

Josh S

Carlos performing one of his signature lip-line floaters on this little inside runner. He cleaned house today during his session!

Josh S

Asher must’ve taken a note from Carlos’ book! Although I liked Carlos’ style better, Asher’s floater here is definitely more critical.

Josh S

Alrighty amigos, that wraps it up for today! There were some nice waves and a good variety of moves executed by today’s surfers. Tomorrow looks like it should be really clean, but a bit smaller. Stay tuned to see how this little swell progresses mañana.
