Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, July 24, 2019

Hola amigos y bienvenidos al reporte con Parker! Humpday featured some big southern humps out there so do yourself a favor and click “read more!”

I hope y’all like it when I give you executive summary at the beginning. Whether you like it or not, you’re gonna get it! We still have some pumping south swell! Big peaks in front of the beach club so pick your waves/positioning and you’ll score. Light winds and light crowds too.

Ok Carlos de Colorados, show us whatcha go bro. Spoiler alert: the wave of the day is going to this hombre.

Watching him drive through those freight trains rights is something special. Equally special is watching him check into the lefts and set his line perfectly.

Always in the spot and always getting the shot of the day! I wonder how many heads he turns per day.

10 photos later, he’s still locked and loaded. Sick wave Carlos!!

They’ll be talking about his wave above (or maybe this one too?) at Casa Ananas’ open mic night tomorrow. Swing by there after dark for some tasty food, mellow music, and cold drinks. The last one was super fun so no doubt this one will be great too.

Jeison, another local who rips, sat on the northern peak to catch those rights. Tell me what you think of his wave and if he edged Carlos out.

Maybe not as picture perfect but he’s deep and driving.

Chandeliers are never an easy thing to navigate, huh? Or, conversely, maybe they are easy and you just hold on, have faith, and punch through?

Alright Jeison, sick wave dude! Way to show the visitors how it’s done.

Positioning is probably the most important factor in surfing, right? With this direction, you need to sit in the right spot in order to lock into the tube. Not too deep or else it will out run you. However, you can sit on the shoulder if you just want to crack a big turn at the end.

High and tight is also an important factor too.

Of those that came (and therefore scored) last year, do y’all remember flying in by plane? Yeah, a little trickier and pricier. We’ve had a handful of groups take that route this year but we are back to daily transports from the Managua airport to Hacienda Iguana. Sure you can fly if you prefer, but driving is easy, relaxing, and perfectly fine. Though, if you want to check the surf on the way in, the Costa Esmeralda airport is your best bet…

We still have a few more shots to show y’all but I want to share some love with those who don’t always get the public recognition. Marvin, pictured closer, works on our maintenance team. He is always smiling, frequently cracking a joke, and an all around good family man. Pretend something isn’t working properly, he’ll be knocking on your door, mitigating the problem, and making sure you’re comfy in your property. Faxy, pictured behind, is the gardener at the NSR Beach House and Casa Rio. He’s another really friendly and hard working stud. He’ll keep your property looking gorgeous that pool clean, andddddd

maybe even pull off one of those coconuts for you! Behind the scenes, NSR has a phenomenal team that makes “the show” happen. Give them an extra thank you next time they help make your stay great. Gracias a todos por su trabajo!

You know, waves like this also make “the show” great too :)

Shine likes to make the walk over and hunt for some left runners. He’s always stylishly (that’s a word, right?) picking off the gems and finding the honey hole.

How’s this stance? There are always awkward moments of surfing (especially the falls). But this guy was tucked in the whole way and proved us silly.

Alright guys and gals, last wave to check out. Last wave because it’s lunch time and that means surf time! Thank y’all for checking out our shots and we’re excited to welcome SBS back tomorrow. That means you’ll see some truly remarkable photography skills. Hasta mañana amigos!
