Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, July 22, 2020

Javier Baldovinos

Hello surfers of the world! Today it's Wednesday and that means I'm in charge of the report, and as always, I try to show other breaks different than Colorado and Panga Drops, take a look at today's surprise!

Javier Baldovinos

First, I checked Colorado (I was planning to get some waves) but there was a small onshore messing with the waves.

While waiting to take some surfing photos I noticed that the rivermouth was full and there was a small flow of water towards the ocean... I "mind surf" a bit on the little waves created by the current.

Then I saw Mr. Hustle doing some Instagram stories (check out @surfnsr for up to date photos and stories). We chat for about 20 minutes and then...

Javier Baldovinos

What started as a small thin line of water turned into a river! with knee high waves popping here and there!

Emi was about to get in the water but decided to do some river surfing instead.

Javier Baldovinos

A few minutes later Danny came running all excited and yelling "I did this! I can't believe it's working!"... Less than an hour before he digged out the sand so the river could start flowing to the ocean in hopes of creating some surfable waves.

Javier Baldovinos

And it definitely worked! Even though it was hard to find the right spot and figure out the waves, everyone had a blast!

Javier Baldovinos

Check out Emi ripping in the river!

And here's Danny getting the feeling of it.

Javier Baldovinos

Right away the expectators showed up... everyone was surprised by the strength and speed of the water, and of course, by the amount of water and sand flowing.

Javier Baldovinos

Look at Danny, riding a small hump with his twin fin!

Javier Baldovinos

One by one they were taking turns, each ride took a few seconds, enough time to want more!

Javier Baldovinos

The Luckiest man a.k.a. Mr. Hustle couldn't resist so he jumped in with his normal shorts and bell to give it a try.

Javier Baldovinos

The river became too wide and too shallow really fast, and the waves dissapeared as fast as they showed up. it was great!

Javier Baldovinos

With the amount of sand that got washed away into the break, it will probably get really good tomorrow or in the next couple of days, stay tune because there is a new swell coming!

Javier Baldovinos

Danny, the Master mind of today's river surfing was super stoked with his creation. Well done Danny!
