Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, July 21, 2017

Brian Scott

Welcome back to the TGIF surf report!! Brian here to help stoke you out with another weekend of fun surf and hopefully fun times for the weekend festivities. Let’s kick it off - shall we!

Brian Scott

Waves are still in the super fun range.

Brian Scott

Peaks all over for everyone here to enjoy!

Brian Scott

I counted about 50 chica surfers out in the line up alone… ok I’m J/K, but there were some ripper gals out there today for sure! (keep scrolling through and you’ll see what I’m talking about!)

Brian Scott

Hayden is a brand new papa, which means he has to coordinate and take his surf session times serious between all the other hundreds of things he does around here now that he’s in the papa club too. Here he is digging in and scooping out some nuggets (pun intended). Too bad I missed his spokes, of going over the handle bars on the wave after this one.. I know he’ll appreciate the little inside joke! Right Hayden!?!? haha

Brian Scott

Brett has been ripping every day. This was when the tide was still a little high and he was getting 3 or 4 even 5 to the beach old school comp style.

Brian Scott

It’s always good to give a shout out to some of our friendly faces around here that help make this place feel so special. Beach Club professionals, Señor Mago, Ivana & Roberto. These are just a few and they’re all so GREAT, but I’ll try and incorporate more in my reports, because there are so many awesome people here that make this place such an awesome place to be every day!

Brian Scott

Once that golden hour sets in, the people usually tend to make their way to the surf like a heard of water buffalo would in Africa to their favorite watering hole. Maybe it’s to keep cool?

Brian Scott

Like I said. There were some ripper chicas out today, and they were here to show a display of girl power out there!

Brian Scott

Bammmm!! take that you lipper!

Brian Scott

Ok, well I can’t exactly have a pretty cool girl theme and not include the love of my life in here. Meet Thalia, or as everyone here knows her by, “Little t”. This has to probably be the best gift a dad could ever get while working.. his little princess running down the beach saying… “Daddy, daddy, I missed you!” and yes, she ran into my arms and gave me the biggest hug ever! Let me tell you… life doesn’t get much better than this!!

Brian Scott

So back to work! haha… Yup, there were definitely still some sizable fun ones coming through.

Brian Scott

Here’s one with a surfer on it for some size reference.

Brian Scott

I have to say that the conditions were pretty incredible also.

Brian Scott

Not all makable, but I would say almost everyone out there was going for most of them. Not to mention the tide was dropping out pretty quickly. So it was pretty shallow out there, so the reward vs thrashing ratio was pretty intense to watch.

Brian Scott

You ever been running after a train OR bus at the station as its pulling away leaving without you..? Well, this is the exact same surfing version of that very scenario.

Brian Scott

Better to get in early than miss the taco truck if ya know what I’m saying.

Brian Scott

But sometimes you get locked in and all you can hear in your mind is that carnival ride worker repeatedly telling you to always keep you arms and legs in the ride at all times.

Brian Scott

Still though, lots of peaky sections with barrels all up and down the beach.

Brian Scott

But along with it came some carnage today as well.

Brian Scott

The Reef was handling some leftover size all day as I watched some gems roll through.

Brian Scott

Some were more for the pure artsy side of mind surfing, not so much for real surfing. Like this 7 lipped beauty.

Brian Scott

I wasn’t kidding about the gals throwing down some gnar gnar this afternoon! When’s the last time you threw some buckets like that?

Brian Scott

and of course, Mr style barrel master receives the post action shot of the day.. hey Carlitos, I have this entire 50 shot sequence. For those of you wondering, yes he made it and yes it was a really long wave.

Brian Scott

Don’t go too far this weekend, or DO? We always encourage surf exploration and fun travel which is how we all got started here at NSR. But wherever or whatever you do this weekend, definitely check back to see what I will have for you. Until mañana, hasta pronto ~
