Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, May 30, 2019

Hola amigos and welcome to the Thursday edition of the surf report with Hotsticks! We are continuing (and almost done with) the bad weather but as always, something good to balance out the bad. Check it out everybody!

Here is the summary of today's surf: a clase caida! Yeah, hard rain and winds mixed with chocolate water (or barrels). The cleaned up weekend can't come soon enough!! And hey, props to this guy for paddling out and wrestling with this thick wave while we were sitting on the beach sheltered from the rain.

Is this couple running to get their boards to tackle that frothy right? Or just seeking cover from the rain? I'd like to think she paddled out and then got spat out of a massive freight train!!

Surfer #1 throwing the towel in on the morning session.

Numero dos following suit and hopefully going to Pili's Kitchen for a delicious breakie. Mmmm the breakfast burrito with bushman smoothie (or even cafe con leche) would hit the spot!

But #3 was determined to not do the paddle of shame! Let's see the one sequence for today's surf report. Keep scrolling!

Right now, we have a solid SW groundswell out there. The problem is that the windswell and onshores are muddying the waters (pun intended) too much. We'd rather get blasted by the one groundswell without the small windswell. Nonetheless, no shortage of unorganized heavy rights mixed with a few corners to shred.

Double or nothing!!! Thank you for the help for today's surf report bro. I wish I was a master photographer like Brian Scott and deliver crisp clear photos regardless of the light.

How about a master mechanic, electrician, and carpenter? Meet Noland- our maintenance team captain. He is one of the smartest, most humble, and eager to helpful human beings on this planet. We have a lot of respect for him- he is an incredible man and loves his family (and always shows an occasional dance moves to make the staff laugh).

Before we get too deep in the report, we want to wish all the Nicaraguan Moms (like mine featured here) a very Happy Mother's Day. Without y'all, there would be no backbone of the house, love, care, delicious food, and tons of great advice. We wouldn't trade the world for you and we love you to bits. #superwoman

Queremos desearles a todas Las Madres Nicaraguenses un feliz dia de Madres. Nosotros les amamos mucho y que Dios les bendiga.

Checking in at the NSR Shop in Downtown Iguana, it seems like our staff is busy learning the shop's processes. Let's see what they're up to!

From left to right, meet Safari and Soleil, kids of our owners Pancho and Hace Queso. We're stoked to spend the summer months with them while their daughters are on break. You'd be surprised (well, I guess you shouldn't be) at how eager these two are to greet our customers (good parenting by starting them young!!!).

Ok a little preview of the shop's eastern corner. You'll find the majority of the goodies you want to take home: NSR swag, stubby holders (as the Aussies say), and drink cups to mix your Flor de Cana concoctions. If you look closer, you'll find several local brands including Surfari Charters, L2 Nicaragua, customized Vissla NICA gear, and Sirena de Popoyo. Not pictured: beach towels, coolers, handbags, and stickers. There's something in there to stoke everybody out!

Did you leave your glasses on the beach or did they get crunched on a boat trip? No worries- we have every price point covered. Nectar, Dot Dash, and D'Blanc are all for sale at our store.

Yeah girls!!! Good to see they have a lot of mom in them (aka, no tongues out in the picture). Behind them are a selection of Billabong, O'Neil, and D'Koko goodies for the ladies. Girls and guys- we got 'em both covered in the shop!

For the hombres fuertes, or those on the Fistpump Fitness routine, we have buy one get one free jerseys. Definitely a great idea for those summer nights, concerts, lazy days, or cruising around on a bike. However, my favorite is the rasta style but we didn't have the right size readily available for Safari and Soleil...

Y'all know about our rental board quiver, right? $20/day or $100/week gives you access to our 100+ selection of name brand boards. Firewires, Hyptos, Channel Islands, Rusty, Robert August, and the list goes on. We recommend avoiding those pesky airline fees and travel dings, right girls?

Ok guys and gals, Safari, Soleil, and I appreciate y'all checking out today's shots! Let's wrap up the days work or if you're in country, let's go enjoy Mother's Day. Swing by our shop any day of the week 8:30am to 5:30pm to pick up the gear. One last note: 500 Cordobas that the Warriors win in 5 games (hit me up at [email protected] to entertain all bets). See y'all next week!
