Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, May 25, 2022

Brian Scott

It’s been a down day Wednesday! Super onshore and low system weather patterns creating some really junked up surf leaving everyone hiding out in their casa’s, condos or maybe even just chilling in a hammock enjoying the cool breeze that the onshore winds are bringing. This is winter here, it’s just the norm for this time of year. . . but thank goodness these storms aren’t around that long.

Brian Scott

From this end of the beach. . .

Brian Scott

To this end of the beach, there wasn’t a single person out surfing, nor even a soul that I could see even on the beach. Soooooo - with that said, I can’t just leave you all hanging with just empty mixed up onshore wave pics, so thankfully we have our massive 17 year historical archive to look back on, so here’s a little flashback, looking at the same dates of the last couple years on May 25. . . so let’s take a look and see how those years looked on this particular day for comparison shall we?

Brian Scott

Ohhhhhh, well for starters, just last season, May 25h in 2021, looking pretty darn awesome!

Brian Scott

Carlos getting super shacked (as usual) and the winds look super dreamy and offshore and it even looks nice and glassy inside that big round aqua tube!

Brian Scott

I’m guessing this was the mystery barrel surfer of the day this time last year.

Brian Scott

Haha, wow how time flies by. This was when my buddy Bobby Hudson came from Hawaii to stay with me and he scored. So I wouldn’t necessarily write off May or this time of year off just from a little rainy weather.

Brian Scott

However, check out the year before that. Here’s 2020. The year of the BIG C! Ugh, for the days that looked like this, I wound’t change a single thing, as this year (aside from all the negative globally things happening) everyone here was super blessed to never once have a beach closure and the crowds were like it was back in 2007or maybe even earlier.

Brian Scott

A bitter sweet time to be in Nicaragua for sure! Because the lineups were never more than 10-15 people, usually more like just a handful each day. Even on the good to EPIC days.

Brian Scott

I think this was when Cesar started to leave the shop in the hands of his trusty and long time workers while he surfed his brains out with all time minimal crowds, in years.

Brian Scott

Bossman, taking 2020 and turning it into Ultimate NMRK positivity 100%!

Brian Scott

Ahhhhh, good ol’ 2019, this is the year with some of the heaviest rains at this same time of year that blew both rivers at each end of the beach out so hard, this place looked like Willy Wonka’s chocolate surfing factory. I’ve never seen the entire bay turn full on brown like this ever!

Brian Scott

Brown, infested with lord knows how many funky illness lingering junk that makes its way practically all the way from Managua to the ocean here, didn’t keep anyone out of the still Epic and Perfect waves that were pumping after the long and super heavy night rains.

Brian Scott

I mean if you live in Jersey, this is nothing. But would you paddle out, if you saw waves like this??

Brian Scott

My amigo and longtime friend Ricky dodging all kinds of debris. Yuck!!! Ricky, your’e a true diehard, I wouldn’t even step foot in that water! But when you come to score waves, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Brian Scott

JJ had no hesitation whatsoever, matter a fact, he was literally flipping out! Hahahaha!

Brian Scott

Ok my friends, sorry for the lack of current surf pics from today, it just wasn’t happening. But I took a stroll up the hill aka “Top of the World” our highest most scenic vantage point on one of the holes on our lush and very impressive golf course. This is looking east away from the ocean, just so you can see the storm system lingering and heading our way. I hope it get’s here and dumps all night and tomorrow we’ll have clean winds, and fun waves again!  Buenas tardes ~
