Booking Policy:
50% of the rental rate is required to confirm a reservation.  The rental balance is due 30 days prior to arrival, along with airport transportation and meal plan payment if booking  either or both of these services. Full payment is due at time of booking if booking is being made 30 days or fewer before check in.

Close to the beach but nestled under the forest canopy, Casa Calala guests will have the best of both sea and shade.  Only 50 yards from the white sand Playa Iguana on the Pacific Ocean, you can walk to the surf breaks of Colorado (100yards south) and Panga Drops (300 yards north). Guests enter Casa Calala through the wrought iron gates leading into the walled inner courtyard and pool area. The design of Casa Calala offers comfy indoor and outdoor living space. Guests can enjoy a cocktail at the swim up bar area, lounge on the extra large L-shaped couch in the air conditioned living room and gather with friends/family in the spacious 2nd floor palapa area with bar, seating and ocean view. This 4BR/3.5BA house is located just steps (literally) from the ocean.  It is equipped with all your creature comforts- AC, cable TV, wifi, BBQ grill, back up power, housekeeping, food service (upon request) and more. 

The house offers a junior suite on the first floor.  It is equipped with a queen bed and private bath and opens up to the pool/patio area.  The first floor also contains the living room, kitchen, 2 additional bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Bedroom #2 has a queen/single bunk and Bedroom # 3 offers 2 single beds. The beautiful and spacious master bedroom is located upstairs (king bed).

Whether in Nicaragua to surf, roam the beach, golf, sight see or relax around the pool, Casa Calala is a unique and memorable choice.

This property is located a 2-2.5 hours drive from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, which most guests use for their travel to Nicaragua. Many of the major vehicle rental agencies have locations at the Managua airport (we recommend you make a reservation in advance).

The Costa Esmeralda Airport, located 5 minutes from Hacienda Iguana, opened in late 2015.  Direct flights are available from Liberia, Costa Rica on Sansa Airlines.  If traveling light, guests may want to consider experiencing the beautiful views and convenience of flying into the Costa Esmeralda Airport.  These are small commuter planes with limited cargo storage.  Those traveling with full size suitcases and surfboards should check with the airlines before booking ticket to ensure there is ample baggage space on the flight.

If renting a vehicle, we feel its only necessary to have a 4wd if planning to travel to some of the beaches further south (in the San Juan del Sur area). If one prefers not to rent a vehicle, we can arrange airport transportation and daily sightseeing/surf trips. We have motorcycle and scooter rentals available and we can also arrange vehicle and boat transport to other surf breaks in the area.  There is also the option of renting a vehicle from Avis, which is located within a half mile of the Hacienda Iguana entrance (in the Riviera Commercial Plaza) or from Alamo and National, which opened an office next to the Hacienda Iguana entrance in 2017.

The best place to stop for groceries is La Colonia or La Union supermarket in Granada or Maxi Pali in Rivas. Its best to stock up on your way from the airport to the house. We HIGHLY recommend stocking up on all or as many of the groceries you will need for your entire stay OR if you don’t want to deal with planning, shopping, and preparing meals ask us about booking the meal plan, our full service catering option.

There are several great food options within the Hacienda Iguana development.  In the commercial zone of the development you will find Don Eloys, which is a sports bar/restaurant open nightly for dinner.  Scoops and Spokes serves up some amazing homemade ice cream, baked goods, paninis, fresh juices and smoothies.  Vana Tacos offers delicious tacos, burritos and quesadillas made with all fresh ingredients. Casa Maderas is located just past the golf condos and offers authentic Nicaraguan cuisine at a fair price. Pili's Cafe in front of the Playa Colorado break is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a variety of fresh foods, juices, smoothies and full bar.

Other restaurants in the general area (outside the Hacienda Iguana development) that are worth checking out are La Scala brick oven pizza (located in Limon 2), Meson Nadi (located in Limon 2), Mag Rock (located in Popoyo), Hostal San Gigante (located in Gigante), Yolanda’s (located in Limon) and Rancho Santana in the Limon area (ask NSR staff to make you a dinner reservation- need 24 hours advance notice).

Hacienda Iguana is known for its world class surf breaks and beautiful 9 hole golf course. The course is well designed, beautifully maintained and very affordable to guests.

We have a well merchandised surf shop (NSR) located inside the Hacienda Iguana development, which offers souvenirs, surf accessories, clothing, beach towels, flip flops,   sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuits, wet suit vests and tops, rash guards and more!  We rent scooters, dirt bikes, surfboards, boogie boards and SUPs out of this location as well.

Other businesses in the Hacienda Iguana community include Satori day spa, 2 small convenience stores with a variety of grocery items and an ATM is located on the property.  Other activities in the development include yoga, horseback riding and in-home massage is also available.

The Riviera commercial plaza is new addition to the area. It is located within a half mile of the Hacienda Iguana entrance. Businesses in this shopping center include BAC bank with ATM machine, Avis rental car and a small grocery store (with the basics).
