Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, December 22, 2016

Hello all and welcome to the surf report for southern Nicargua! This is Parker uploading today's morning shots. Check out the sick waves!!

Today was a barrel fest!! There were waves coming in from every direction before I could even get the camera set up!! Enjoy today's shots amigos.

If you haven't already met Ryan Cook, you will know him after today's report. He was shredding, killing it, and calling people into waves all morning.

While you're visiting here, swing by his taco shop- Vana's Tacos. It is located across from our NSR shop in Downtown Iguana. The burritos are where it's at!!

Ryan, I don't want to bankrupt your taco joint but how about we trade each photo of this sequence for one taco? That's only something like 15 tacos... You'll be stoked on the sequence and I'd be a full happy man!

Ryan is an awesome guy and we're stoked he's apart of the community for the past year. The locals love him too because he hooks them up with ding repair help.

But if he's throwing buckets and blasting his tail out, I'm surprised he doesn't have more dings himself!! Good stuff this morning Ryan!!

Every holiday season, we try to support organizations doing good in the local area. This year, we chose CREA so here is a quick word about them... Nicaragua is paradise, but it's also the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Education levels, especially in rural areas of the country, are alarmingly low. To put it in perspective, the average number of total years of schooling a rural Nicaraguan receives is 4.9 years. Yet despite a poorly equipped education sector, rural communities in Tola are now getting the educational support. Help us give the gift of education this holiday season and join us in supporting CREA! Link to Donate Page: http://www.creanicaragua.org/donate/

So if you haven't noticed, our homebreak was firing this morning! Even if it isn't the perfect direction, we are still stoked. Thank you Santa!!!

The waves have been fun the entire day (and yesterday)! Also, the crowds are still light until people start checking in for the holidays.

It looks like Megan helped keep Maverick Doan on the nice list. Mike deserves a set wave after stoking out the locals yesterday. They used their golf cart to impersonate Santa's sleigh and make all the local's laugh.

Gavin, where were you this morning bro??? Were you still working on that application to Tola Tech???

What's a day filled with barrels without a couple over the falls? I wanted to save his face and just feature the board going for a swim!!!

Surfline predicted a bump of 3ft at 16 seconds. I'm not a professional, but I guess that translates to overhead and pumping!!

Yeah Vana!!! He snagged this sick right but gave me the epic right later when we were surfing. Por eso Ryan, another sequence for you hermano!

Although this right doesn't look too bad. The majority of the rights are too stretched out and fast so they close out.

Ahhhh the one that got away!! Still a beautiful wave and great to watch- even if it was too fast.

The lefts were the call this morning. Brad joined us for the early morning session and he got his lion share of nuggets.

Him, Miki, Koji, and Yuji recently moved here from Canada. They're a great additional to the community- especially when Miki cooks Thai night (tonight at 6pm) at Casa Ananas!

We aren't sure who rips harder: Brad or his boys Koji and Yuji. We know Miki is the family's volleyball stud because she was reward the All-American status despite being a Canadian resident.

A lot of the waves today were epic while other ones were slightly difficult to manage. Props for charging it though hombre!!

If all else fails, sit on the inside and gobble up the nugs. There's usually a barrel section and plenty of inviting face.

Ok friends- last sequence- I promise! It's almost the weekend so hold on for the rest of today and tomorrow!

In your Friday meeting, draw this in your note's margin. Or, click that vacation rental tab.

Ten photos later and still going strong! Shoot me an email at [email protected] for the entire sequence.

An exit is an exit, even if it's messy! Nice was hombre.

Keep an eye on the ocean- the swell should start backing off this afternoon and tomorrow. Whether it's pumping or dying down, take a break from the holiday to do's and get out there!

Ok chicos and chicas, it's time to log off and slip out for some more. We appreciate you guys checking out today's report and have a good upcoming holiday!! Hotstick Hannahs is out!!
