Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, December 01, 2018

Brian Scott

Hola!! Brian here, signing in for the Saturday surf report. If you checked in yesterday, you saw we had a nice surprise new swell arrive just in time for the transition from November to December. Click that read more to see how it went today!

Brian Scott

I actually arrived at the beach around 2:30pm. I was hoping to beat the tide before it dropped too far, but I was too late. The only thing going on with the super low tide was some fishing…

Brian Scott

And only one surfer out. Mi Amigo Dario with the whole entire lineup, scratch that, the entire bay of Hacienda Iguana, all to himself.

Brian Scott

I decided to park it under a nice shady tree and take a little much needed siesta until around 4pm, since I knew the conditions would improve.

Brian Scott

Sure enough, my instincts were right!

Brian Scott

Tony Z made the tardy afternoon paddle out, since he knows this place just as well.

Brian Scott

Phi Louuuuu doing his best A.I. no hands drop in impersonation on a beautiful emerald green Nica cylinder.

Brian Scott

December 1st and this is the place that usually should be flat right about now.

Brian Scott

But nope…. its still pumping in 2018!

Brian Scott

April isn’t the only tax time, Nica has taxes all year around.

Brian Scott

Don’t worry Mr. Reef up north, Colorados will shut down soon enough and you will have all of your glory for the next few months as scheduled. Sorta. Not as long as these southern swells keep providing the way they have been.

Brian Scott

I could easily pull any shot from my archives and do a side by side comparison with this photo and a similar photo from April to July and you would never be able to tell the difference. The magic is that this is in December, with only about 5 people out.

Brian Scott

Dropping into a wave under the lips get’s 1000 extra bonus points, ALWAYS!

Brian Scott

Rutci is saying to herself right about here…. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”!!!

Brian Scott

Zac with maybe one of his last big “Zak Attack Lip Smacks”, before he ventures on to start the new chapter in his life with his family after living here in Nica for many years. Good luck with the new journey amigo!

Brian Scott

This grom is one of the luckiest groms on the planet right now. Scoring a mysto swell like this in December is like winning a lotto ticket, except he doesn’t have to be over 18 to get this winning ticket!

Brian Scott

Mini Nias nuggets in Nica-Land, YES, PLEASE!!!

Brian Scott

Papi, with a snap to match his infectious smile every single day. Yeahhhh Duuuuude!!!!!

Brian Scott

Even though the low tide was still pretty out there (see the below sea level drainage going on here) I can only hope/imagine tomorrow will be just as good on the higher tide early on in the day. XX Crossing fingers!!!

Brian Scott

Alley-oops aren’t juts for kids.

Brian Scott

As the sun began to fade, the lineup still only had about 5 people out. Mystery surfer dude racing to get his last barrel of the day.

Brian Scott

I can only surmise that a paddlers foot may have created this little chandelier for this tube hound. Either way, he managed to break on through to the other side!!

Brian Scott

If you recollect, this is the exact same position Laird took on his groundbreaking Millennium wave at Teahupoo. Ok, I know there’s no comparison to the size, but the stance still looks just as cool on any wave.

Brian Scott

Late late afternoon runner before the camera goes back into the bag and I write these words and hit enter for you all to see how today went!

Brian Scott

Hope you all had a great Saturday. What little amigos that are here sure did!!! Stop on by tomorrow for Sunday Funday and see what we end up having on tap for waves. Lets keep this thing rolling shall we..?!?!?! Buenas noches ~
