Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, November 26, 2011

We had a big day today, lot of action going on in San Juan del and surround area.  There was a huge cultural party in town since 8:00 am where more than 300 students met to celebrate the 50 anniversary of one of the oldest school in town.  A little bit of live music was on!

Kids dancing up and down the streets.  Check out these kids dancing El Gueguense, one of our native dances with more than 100 year old of tradition.

Kids dancing El Sompopo, native dance from Ometepe Island.  Little kids from kinder garden doing their thing.

We changed locations to Playa Maderas to check the surf out.  We got surprised to find some size when the tide was coming in.  Chest to shoulder high sets were rolling in and the winds were nice offshore.  Check out the lineup!

Rights and lefts were coming in all over the place.  The lineup was a little busy but there were still some empty ones rolling in by themselves.

La Bestia Calderon was the only local ripping out there when I got there.  Here he is going big with his signature move.

Lots of beginners were out, trying to catch some waves on their own.  Here we caught these two charging on this nice sized set.

Did we say bunch of beginners?  Check out all those big boards on the beach!

Right before dark part of the NSR family made it out to score some waves with the birthday man Carlitos Calientes.  Hot Carl, Quesitos and Mariel enjoying the beautiful evening we had.

Birthday man Carlitos Caliente doing his thing on the big board.  He had a blast out there on his huge super panga.  Feliz Cumpleanos mi amigo, hope you have fun tonight!

The last shot of the day goes to Felipe “El Pipe” Chompipe blasting fins out with a sick frontside maneuver.  Please check back tomorrow!
