Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, November 20, 2010

What’s up folks?  We’ve have Lucha Libre here bringing you a little bit of the action we had on the first day of the Central American Surf Contest at Playa Maderas.  The surf was pretty fun the whole day but it was definitely bigger at low tide.  It was running about waist to chest high with a couple shoulder high waves every once in a while.  Check it out!

There was a good vibe at the beach.  All the teams were supporting their surfers in the water and everybody was having a good time.

To start the day we had the Bodyboarders category, where our good friend Nestor “El Grillito” Aleman was killing in.  He defended his home very well and made it into the semifinals for tomorrow.

Then we had the ladies, in this category we have to tell everyone that we do not  have any Nicaraguan girl practicing this modality but Rosa and Dunia did their best to get some scores for our team.  Here they are sharing some words to the world.

Getting ready for the Open we had Luis Chamorro, Augusto Chamorro, Darwin Jacamo and La Bestia Calderon.  We had some of the tightest heats in this category.

“El Cacaste” Florez was getting ready for something else.  He was waxing girls all over the beach.

It was so nice to see all the people supporting their teams.  This guy might be family of El Macho Nacho.  Where are you Lance?

La Gaviota Chamorro was working hard in his heat.  He did some sick maneuvers like this one but unfortunately he didn’t make it to the semifinals for tomorrow.  He got third place in his heat just for a few tinny points.

This heat was very tight, there were some amazing surfers showing us why they are here.  Carlos Munoz from Costa Rica going big with a cool backside aerial move.

We had a weird surfing day.  The conditions were so good early morning but then it was changing a lot as soon as the tide was coming in.  La Baloy Chamorro had to battle his heat but he did make it into the semis for tomorrow.

A classic Jimmy Rotherhan's shot on the beach waving his flag.  There was a lot of talent to watch today and it is going to get better tomorrow.

Nobody was giving up, no matters what happen in the lineup we are all friends on the beach.

In the longboards heats we had Oliver and Jose representing our country.  El Monito Solis didn’t make it but El Corage successfully get the goal today.  We are going to see him out tomorrow.

Later on, we drove a little bit to do a surf lesson.  Our very own  Devin “The Pale Ghost” did his best to do these guys ride some waves.

And he did well.  Here is caught one of our new friends with a solid ride all the way in to the beach on the last shot of the day.  We’ll be back tomorrow with the final day of the contest, god willing.  Peace!
