Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, November 16, 2020

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, this is Baldo with today's report. Don't get excited, this photo is from this date but last year, we all wish it was like this but, take a look, it didn't look that bad today.

Sometimes it doesn't matter if the surf is not good if you have a nice backup plan, like staying at Casa Carolina's pool in Rancho Santana, enjoying the view.

Or maybe staying at Casa Rock in playa Rosada listening to the waves crashing on the reef.

If you want to see a little bit more greenery but still close enough to the ocean, Casa 5 Bandidos can be a great pick.

In case you are wondering why it looks so cloudy and foggy, Nicaragua is having a massive visitor for a second time in less than two weeks... Hurricane Iota is following the route of Hurricane Eta, about to hit our northern east coast.

There is some swell in the water but the onshore, and the worries and preparation for the Hurricane, is keeping everyone dry and looking for cover.

Dark clouds are little by little filling up the sky, threatening with a drizzle every few minutes.

November 16th 2018 was small but super fun, a normal November session but we are on this 2020 blackhole that keeps bringing new surprises every week.

This photo is from November 16th 2017 at Santana beach... not bad, right?

As I'm writing this report the rain is starting to show up, getting a little bit stronger every hour... there are hundreds of people evacuated in the nearby communities, taking as much precautions as possible, preparing for floods, probably worse than the ones we had two weeks ago. Please, keep the Nicaraguan in your prayers. Have a good night.
