Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, November 12, 2006

Lot's of things going on in Nicaragua these days - in light of the recent election of Daniel Ortega as our new president, many people have been asking "what's going on down there?". Let me tell you that things have been very good so far (and I'm not even talking about the epic surf and light crowds we've had for the last few weeks). During his first week as "president elect", Mr. Ortega has met with local heads of state, business leaders and foreign investors and has been very clear in his message that he is pro-development, pro-tourism and pro-foreign investment. Additionally, he's specifically stated that private land ownership is an integral part of growing the economy in Nicaragua and that he and his administration are not considering land confiscations. As a first hand witness living down here, he seems to be doing the right things. As another example, the Sandinista Mayor of San Juan Del Sur, sent out the above letter on the same topic.

Welcome to the surf report for today. It's chest to head high on sets and the wind is offshore. Today the juniors were out, practicing for the upcoming tournament at Maderas. I am sure they had a fun session out there. Check it out.

Check out the new Ocean Green boards about to be tested at Maderas by trainee- shapers glassers, Valdo, Denis and Rafael. Three boards: a 6.8

Here is Young Rex with a nice shot. This guy was flying and ripping all over the place. He probably is going to win the next juniors contest at Maderas.

Ashley was out too. She is the only woman surfing in Nicaragua. Keep working.

Here is Sean ( BURNSY ) from San Diego with a cool bottom turn on a set wave.

Fran Mcwillian had been brought to Nicaragua by Ocean Green to train local surfers in shaping and glassing. To get more info Check out WWW.OCEANGREEN.ORG

This is Larry CARITA DE VENADO. He got second place in the last tounament at Maderas. Now, he had been working and he's ready to win the next one.

Hey Juanito, check you out. You are on NSR one more time. Nice spray buddy.

Here is Zamir EL PELUCHE Duarte with the last shot of the day. Check back tomorrow.
