Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, November 10, 2017

Brian Scott

Hey there everybody! Today we had some amazing swell in the water. We have lots of goodies for you from today, so sit back relax and enjoy!

Brian Scott

I got down to the playa extra early since I knew today was the peak day of the swell, and this is what I saw coming in. Yaaaah, looks like any typically Super Sick Nicaragua big swell day in June or July right? Nope, this is November peeps!

Brian Scott

So to kick things off this morning, the bulk of the NSR crew and a few extra heads jumped on a boat early this AM to go score at one of the best left hand point breaks in the area. Shooting these rad water shots was by someone… well, let’s just say he is coming on board and picking up where Parker left off. I’m going to leave him anonymous for now, for one, because it’s fun and mysterious, but also, he’s got his 1st debut report coming up next week, so I’ll let him introduce himself then; but for now… enjoy some sick picks from their session early this morning. (Captions by our new amigo!) : Bryan making it look easy standing tall with the lean back while waiting for the section. Note the pitbull muscle shirt. Everyone needs a go to surf shot, especially when the photogs are out in the water.

Brian Scott

East coast takeover! This guy from Lido beach (Lido Escondido) with the steazy bottom turn to start of the day.

Brian Scott

Surf NSR staff holding it down! Carl Segestrale setting up for a barrel on the inside section.

Brian Scott

A few of the thicker waves were opening and throwing a tube when they hit the inside section.

Brian Scott

Steaze arm

Brian Scott

Lido Escondido homie using that east coast tube knowledge to negotiate a little head dip.

Brian Scott

Exhibit 1 – wide open tube on the inside section. Not all of them were doing this, but if you got lucky, it was possible.

Brian Scott

Don’t let the pics fool you. Conditions shifted throughout the morning and it was difficult to find the right place to sit and the right wave to go on. This guy pulled off the wave once he realized he wasn’t going to make it in. We all know THIS feeling

Brian Scott

Surfers weren’t the only ones interested in what was going down at Manzanillo. A hawk circled around for a bit scoping out lunch. We noticed a few bait balls on the way in, there were definitely some fish swimming around.

Brian Scott

This guy was just killing it. Despite the hat, this guy had style. In case you were wondering, yes, it is in fact possible to noseride a shortboard

Brian Scott

Thanks for the sick coverage over at the point break today hemrano! I wish I could have joined in with you guys!!

So I figured I'd ride it out through the low tide and came back to check it out in the afternoon at the local playa. This is what was coming through.

Brian Scott

Kinda glad I waited too.. the afternoon session was firing! Check out this guy getting slotted!

Brian Scott

Same guy, same wave… ya, it was a bit of a grower! Check that lip!

Brian Scott

After seeing that frothy one, I was wondering if the song was playing somewhere near the beach club today, because it definitely felt like “My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard And they're like, it's better than yours Damn right, it's better than your's I could teach you but I have to charge”

Brian Scott

A view very commonly seen mid peak season. November… ??? But heck, we’ll take it!

Brian Scott

The reef was throwing a few grenades too!

Brian Scott

Today, the crowd was at an all time low. The waves were at an all time high for this time of year (for both actually) now you can go do the math.

Brian Scott

If you use the guy paddling out for perspective, you can clearly see it was a little overhead today.

Brian Scott

Carlos's secret weapon!

Brian Scott

Which allows him to always be in his comfy place!

Brian Scott

Oh man, where do I start? I saw his wave beginning to end. (obviously it didn’t end too well). I don’t have the sequence because I was moving locations, but I turned and saw the whole thing with my eyes. I feel so bad for Lesther because he really, really liked this board. BUT there’s a rule of thumb here in the small lesson of achieving greatness and losing something all at the same time. If you don’t push yourself, you never progress. Lesther here cashing in, but also paying his taxes; he was deeper and traveled further than I’ver seen him, which is saying A LOT!

Brian Scott

GIGANTE getting all PUNK ROCK!!!

Brian Scott

An eye witness that this place is good for any kind of surfing.

Brian Scott

How does one look when they’re about to paddle out to firing waves? Sorta something like this, I think.

Brian Scott

If it wasn’t a barrel, which I think 99% of all the waves were today. This guy puts a nice exclamation stamp on the the end section on the inside.

Brian Scott

Really, how late is too late when taking off?

Brian Scott

Good question? If you eat it, is it too late, and if you make it, could you have taken off deeper??

Brian Scott

I guess that’s all in how you perceive how hard you push your surfing, I guess?

Brian Scott

OK… Its been a Great day, but that’s the end! Ok, bad pun, but it really was a good day!

Brian Scott

I’m hoping we wake to more of this en la mañana! Definitely check back to see what we have. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for our new mystery photog!!! Lets just say you’re in for a treat!! See ya soon ~
