Howdy Sunday Surf fans! Well, today wasn’t all that inspiring for waves. In fact, there wasn’t a single surfer out the few times I checked in the morning, the midday and afternoon. But you know there’s always something fun to report about every day here. So jump on in and see what we have for you today!

To the Northern end and this is exactly what I saw. NADA!!! One big empty beach and ocean.

So today, I thought I would do a little “Brian’s Top 8 NSR places to rent” for todays fill in, due to the lack of surf.

So first off, I’m gonna start with one of my favs that sits smack dab in the middle of our pristine stretch of beach, right between Colorados & Panga Drops. Casa Blanca is currently being completely remodeled and is set to be looking like a home that would be featured in Beach Front Homes of the Rich and Famous, it’s going to be that good! So look for the newly updated photos to come once it’s finished and be one of the first to book this epic beach front property that’ll be brand new inside and out!

Second and actually right next door to Casa Blanca, is Casa Cantamar. This cozy two story sits nestled as well in between the two of our best surf breaks and has a unique coastal European feel to it. It’s away from a lot of the main traffic (believe it, Hacienda Iguana can get to 100% full occupancy on any given day or weekend) so if you like a little more quite and off the beaten path, this place is just right!

Moving up the beach, there’s Casa H1, which sits just to the right of Panga Drops. Breath taking views and a back yard that feels like you’re in Carmel, CA but with the tropical breeze of Nicaragua all at the same time. Remember, I’m going my favorite top 8. These are also most likely the top 8 that are rented out year round!

If you like to mix things up, and I can assure you, this place is no slum, try giving the Ranch at “Rancho Santa” or more specifically Playa Rosada a shot! Some the most exquisite homes along the entire Emerald Coast sit right here at this beach that’s named after its rocky shoreline and pink soft sands. Casa Brown is a stunner, obviously with this view, inside and out!

Same location but just a few steps down and actually sitting right on the beach. Casa Rock, and no, Dwayne Johnson “The Rock” does not live here; but you would think someone of his caliber would. This home is solid…. well, yes, solid like a ROCK! It’s big, it’s bold and Heck YES, it’s beautiful!!! Oh and I forgot to mention but both these homes over look one of of THE BEST left hand point break waves within a 100 mile radius; and its all inclusive AND completely private. Meaning you’re guaranteed to score all to yourself with some decent swell and the right tide.

This one made my top 8, not because it’s beach front, but because of it’s unique renting capability. Los Playas Eco Casita Village sits back in the jungle setting with maybe about a 5 or 10 min walk to the beach, but it’s been built and carefully thought out to accommodate big groups of people. Like really big. There are 9 complete 2 and 3 bedroom homes to rent (you can rent them individually) but the ideal for this spot is to have one little community for you and your group. It comes with your own pool, yoga palapa and very nicely landscaped grounds and pathways that will allow to to jump from house to house when you want to go visit any of your buddies. Oh and don’t fret on the whole not being right at the ocean. NSR has a small fleet of duel sport motos (even with optional surf racks) to rent to you and your group so you can check the waves in seconds! If you’re a big group or retreat looking for your own mini village…. this is the PLACE!!!!

Coming in on a HOT HOT 2nd, actually this one is tied for number 1! But I had to flip a coin as these last two homes are equally EPIC and for their own respective reasons. Fort Walker, as shown from the beachside bottom floor view here poolside, in a nut shell is…. JUST BAD A$$!!! This home couldn’t be named more perfectly as it’s literally like a fort that over looks some of the biggest waves the ocean can throw at this stretch of beach. That’s Panga Drop off in the far distance. If you like feeling like a King in his Castle, this place is well suited for you. Fun Fact… the owner of this beast of a home, whom is a good friend of mine said he always wanted to get some real cannons and post them up on the second floor and shoot canon ball out to sea. Haha well, if you know him, you know how funny that is and how much he’d really do it! YOU GOTTA LOVE FORT WALKER!!!

My Numero Uno is the most rented house year round in all of Hacienda Iguana, that’s right. I’m sure all of you fans are familiar with this icon beach front property. The ever so well known “NSR Beach House” is the premier Colorados surf Casa. Think of when you see the big boys with the floor seats at the lakers, like Nicolson, Dicaprio, or Snoop Dog, that’s right, this is the equivalent to the best seats at a Lakers Game. Front row seats, not to mention you’re right next door to Pili’s restaurant, the beach club bar, live volleyball court all day, and people watching, from surfers, to hot beach babes, to everything in-between. You also get the advantage to see when this place turns from ok, to A-frame perfection at any moment of the day; which means “GO Grab your board quick and get out there NOW when it starts firing kind of privilege!!!! Well, that’s my Top 8 favorite and most recommend places to rent. Things are starting to look up for hopefully a return in travel, so take a consideration so a few of my recommendations and book something soon….. each and every one of you deserve a nice vacation after all this time!!!
