Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, October 23, 2008

Hello and thank you for joining us for the Thursday surf report.  We are Roberto “Lucha Libre” and D-lite bringing you the report from an unknown location.  Today the waves were running chest to head high with quite a few overhead sets and the weather was great.

Today we loaded up “El Burro” and headed south with a few of the best local surfers from San Juan.  First we have a shot of Edwin “El Tuzo” Morales with a sick right.  This wave got super thick when it hit the inside sandbar.

This is a great shot of another local ripper, Calibilli with a super nice left bowl.  We had a ton of photos to choose from today.  There were a couple of clean barrels to be had.

Next up we have “La Bestia” going huge on this little right.  He was going big all day long.  Usually he mixes it up with all kinds of maneuvers, but today he seemed to be focused on huge airs.  We think he is practicing on the upcoming contest season.

Jorge “El Chispero” Dominguez is improving his surf little by little, but now he’s thinking of going into show business.  Check out his facial expression in this picture.  He’s thinking about trying out for the new movie “The Son of the Hulk”.

Augusto “La Gaviota” Chamorro was showing us all his best maneuvers, including some double grab airs.  He’s one of the best local surfers in Nicaragua and he works hard everyday on his skills.

This morning we intended on going to surf Maderas, but about half of the way there we had to turn around due to a couple of trucks that were stuck in the mud and blocking the road.  So we decided to pull a shot out of the archives of our local favorite spot.  This was early on in the season on one of its better days.  Check back tomorrow.
