Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, October 20, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, this is Baldo with today’s surf report from Santana beach. The water is finally showing some change of color, it now has this greenish shade and with these kind of A-frames it is looking pretty attractive.

I got to the beach right at high tide so first peak was not breaking properly, it was kinda of crumbly but the shape was there.

The view to the north was great… long rights breaking all the way to the beach and a great sunset was starting to appear, look at those clouds.

I heard tomorrow Rancho Santana is organizing a local surf competition, that’s why a lot of the local surfers were out polishing their skills and learning the new curves of the sandbars. Here is Darwin visiting the green room.

For all the weekend warriors, it looks like tomorrow it will be bigger than today so, start waxing your board, cancel meetings and head out to the beach ‘cause it’s going to be Good!

Javier Baldovinos

Offshore… what a wonderful thing to have almost year around!

Javier Baldovinos

Jairo, another local from Limón 2 looks ready for tomorrow’s surf competition. I’m ready too!... to surf by myself while everyone is at the competition!

Javier Baldovinos

Some of the little ones are taking advantage of the new beginner’s wave here at Santana to learn how to surf.

Javier Baldovinos

Little by little the beach is clearing out from the debris, as I mentioned last week a lot of the people from the community are coming to the beach to collect the driftwood for their wood burning stoves.

Javier Baldovinos

Darwin was also practicing some air maneuvers for tomorrow.

And Jairo here throwing his fins out the back. It’s going to be interesting to see who is going to reach the podium tomorrow.

Javier Baldovinos

That is where I will probably be surfing tomorrow… just next to the event but far enough to hopefully not that many people will be with me.

Don’t forget that the Spanish Book Drive still is underway! One of the many losses for the local community was over 3,000 Spanish children's library books. This is a devastating loss for everyone, especially for the many kids who would frequent the library after school to check out books or get help with homework. If you would like to help, here is a link to the Amazon wish list that has been created to help refill the shelves or feel free to look for other Spanish books: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2XPKWYRGI559Q/ref=cm_sw_em_r_d_g__wf

Please email Heather at [email protected] for a US shipping address where Spanish book donations can be delivered.

Another A-frame to make you want to come to Nicaragua and share some waves with the locals.

Javier Baldovinos

You better come prepare though, these guys are good!
