Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, September 28, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Santana beach. Today I was surprised to see that we had light offshore winds in the morning and the waves were kind of glassy but small.

Javier Baldovinos

The crowd was small and everyone was having fun with this morning conditions. You can look out in the horizon the big stormy clouds going away allowing the offshore breeze to take over.

While “El Matador” Jan was killing an innocent right wave, Mike looked very interested in the way Marlon waxes his board.

Here is Marlon showing “El Matador” that his waxing technique works really good out there.

Javier Baldovinos

Looks like Jan even had a taste of that waxing technique.

This “chele” was flying today. He was catching a lot of waves and on every one of them he showed some strong moves.

Javier Baldovinos

It is still too small for Junior Martinez so he decided to use his free time head to the reef to try to get some free lunch. I hope you got something Junior!

Javier Baldovinos

My Kiwi friend Hineireia Te Aomarama (I love the sound of her name) was out catching some waves too. After spending more than a month fighting an ear infection she is back in the water! Welcome back Hine!

As always, there were some empty really good peaks appearing exactly where nobody was. Rolling perfectly all the way to the shore.

Javier Baldovinos

But not all the good peaks got to go empty… here is two surfers sharing one.

Look at “el chele” again, this time with a well executed floater.

Javier Baldovinos

He went a couple of frames riding the top of the wave and finished with a big air drop in front of the wave.

Javier Baldovinos

This other guy caught the barrel of the day, actually, the only barrel of the morning (at least while I was there taking photos).

Javier Baldovinos

Santana always surprise me, it could be small and messy but there is always a chance of finding a good little barrel.

Javier Baldovinos

One more sequence of “el chele”, this time with a powerful layback snap.

Javier Baldovinos

Really good speed control, using his left hand as a pivot while rotating his lower body.

Javier Baldovinos

Keeping the board under his feet and using his core to come upright again. Check out how big the spray was! Kuddos for you buddy!

Javier Baldovinos

The Mermaid was surfing too. Sorry Aurelia, I didn’t take many photos of you today.

Javier Baldovinos

I did take a photo of you picking up trash from the beach and putting it where it belongs. We should all follow her example, every time you go surfing, take back with you one or two plastic bottles or plastic bags. Let’s keep our beaches clean!

Javier Baldovinos

I know sometimes I might be too harsh with some of you, making jokes or calling names just for the fun of it… please don’t take it personal, you have to understand that it’s not easy to be taking “really” good photos of all of you surfing good waves while I’m out in the sun itching to get in the water. I’m glad El Matador understands it. Jejeje

That’s it for today boys and girls. Come back tomorrow to see more action from the beautiful beaches of Nicaragua!
