Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, September 25, 2020

Brian Scott

Hola and Happy Friday amigos! We had a little mix of stuff going on today in terms of winds, weather and waves, so without making a big intro, let’s jump right in and kickstart this weekend off, shall we!!!

Brian Scott

Yes, as you can already see that the waves weren’t cooperating that great in the earlier part of of the day.

Brian Scott

But the positive side was the lineup was practically empty. There were still some pretty fun little waves to ride out there, as you can see from Sebastian who’s from Southern California, but unfortunately had his last day here today. Not a bad way to spend your last day in Nica-Land, right buddy!

Brian Scott

The only other person Sebastian had to share the waves with was Emiliano. And if it weren’t for running into Emi at the last minute when I was checking it, I would have probably just skipped shooting all together and postponed it util the PM session.

Brian Scott

Glad I didn’t though. This could have very well been all we had to see for any surfing today as the cloudy sky was indicating some real potential rain at some point today.

Brian Scott

AAAaaahhh look 3 makes the perfect number for a nice little surf report. Yeah Derek, get out there… let’s see some ripping brother!

Brian Scott

Emi just toying with the onshore messy surf like it’s nothing!

Brian Scott

We all know the lineup would be packed if it was as good as it was a few days ago. But hey…. somebody’s gotta walk the doggy’s right?

Brian Scott

Pretty funny because I think this was really right around noon too!

Brian Scott

Derek keeping his word and going out there and giving me some proper surf report material.

Brian Scott

If you’ve been following all the reports Derek has been on since he’s been here throughout the entire lockdown, you’ll recall that he’s usually steezing it out on his super cruisy Fowler single fin. But make no mistake, you put a standard shortboard with a thruster fin setup under his feat and it’s like watching the WCT surf again after about 9 months of nada!

Brian Scott

Emi definitely giving Derek a little run for his money in their “unofficial” friendly little mini heat, between two well seasoned surfers!

Brian Scott

I wasn’t really keeping score because I only had a short little window to shoot today. But I bet you it was a close tie!!!

Brian Scott

Looks like there was a bit of a paddle battle…. Emi and Derek, let us all know who took home the Jeep Wrangler!! Hahahaha

Brian Scott

Oki, so as I mentioned in the intro, today had a little bit of a mix of stuff going on, so I ended up getting word that the evening session was looking pretty glassy and had cleaned up quite a bit. So as an added Friday surf report bonus, here’s my round two of todays report.

Brian Scott

It may look a bit similar to earlier today, but I promise it really was cleaner and nicer!

Brian Scott

Some new friends I made at the sunset time “glass off” hour, visiting from Brazil. I have’t seen a single Brazilian friend here for almost a year. It was nice to finally hear some Portuguese in such a long time.

Brian Scott

The “one” who always has eyes on the water…. my umbilical chord to the waves. Yup, Mr. Derek gave me the call about the evening glass off and look how right he was!

Brian Scott

Looks like he’s performing a birth or something about to get interestingly painful right about here on this crazy inside closeout! DUDE watch yo head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes!!!! Jaja

Brian Scott

And this my friends is what we call a BANGER!!!! We all know the sunsets here are always typically pretty good…. but this here, this blazing gold encrusted cloud spread across the curve, getting eaten by the sea work of art was off the charts AMAZING tonight! And with that, I bid you adieu!! Dulces sueños mis amigos y hasta mañana ~
