Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Brian Scott

Welcome and Happy Hump day surf amigos! We had some pretty fun surf out front for this Miércoles… hit that “read more” button and lets get to it shall we.

Brian Scott

It was like peak season today out there, minus the peak season crowds. We even had a catamaran with a little dingy cruise up and drop anchor.

Brian Scott

There was definitely a little shred fest going on out there.

Brian Scott

The water was super warm and had such a nice color to it too.

Brian Scott

We had amigos and amigas out there sharing wave after wave.

Brian Scott

Maycol… BUDDY! This is day two for two that you’re killing it out there. Stepping it up mi amiguito!!

Brian Scott

Look who showed up to join in the Miércoles hump day fun! I swear I did a double take on my phone to make sure it wasn’t actually a Sunday Funday today.

Brian Scott

Talking about and oddly good day today we had down at the playa. I turned to look back to see what was thundering off in the distance and I saw this thing looming in on us.

Brian Scott

and the tide was peaking high, so I thought, maybe it’s about to get interesting.

Brian Scott

Ironically, the shredding was still going down, while the sun was still beaming as nice as ever.

Brian Scott

We had the occasional cloud that the sun hid behind for a minute or two, but that dark storm that looked like it was gonna wreck some havoc on our happy hump day seemed to dissipate the more it moved closer to being over the ocean. Thierry here didn’t mind either way. He was having a blast out there on his log catching tons of waves!

Brian Scott

Hace Queso aka “Abeja Reina” (ok, I just made that new one up - long story about knick names here on the Ol’ NSR) was out there trying a new setup (board) with a different volume, which looked to be working out really well! Go Heather!!

Brian Scott

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship…. Yeah it was one of those kinds of afternoons!

Brian Scott

and it was definitely one of these kinds of days too! People out happily shredding the gnar!

Brian Scott

The you look up Websters definition of “Awesome Surfing Dads”, this is the image that normally pops up.

Brian Scott

Speaking of another cool Dad here, Marcos (who isn’t really a small dude) just about to get barred by this high tide, inside double up, backwash, funky nugget looking thing.

Brian Scott

I’m a little bummed nobody bothered to tell me “Guns and Roses” was gonna be here this week… cause obviously Slash was out in full force today.

Brian Scott

This must be his solo part?!?

Brian Scott

So I have to say, I was pretty impressed with little Soleil’s eagerness to get out there on the boogie today. (p.s. Also nice coaching pops!!)

Brian Scott

I’ll say, I was so impressed, I had to give her one of my coveted 9 image sequence spreads for the day! Check out this little amiga!! Smiles for miles all the way to the beach. (*ed note - notice how nicely she recovered from practically doing the scorpion on the take off too!)

Brian Scott

There was actually a lot of muchacha representation out there today. I’m personally a fan of this chica’s board shaper of choice. Nice Aftermath, Ian is actually a really good friend of mine and you might recognize some of the big names he shapes for, one being the Big Wave surfer Keala Kennell. So, good to see you’re riding for a legendary shaper like my buddy Ian Wright!

Brian Scott

Abeja Reina this tabla might be just the right dims with this new whip you’re dialing in. Now lets get you in some barrels to see how that thing really fits being in your quiver!

Brian Scott

Let’s check back in on little grom charger Soleil… Yup, the stoke level is at an all time high!!!

Brian Scott

Proud Papa Pancho showing the fam how it’s properly executed. Looking down the line… eyeballing that oncoming section.

Brian Scott

Coming off the bottom with the wind up…

Brian Scott

and Bammm, smashing that high tide, inside double up, backwash, funky nugget looking thing. (*ed note - you wouldn’t know it by looking at the photos, but Pancho took a pretty good little stab to the inside ankle from a friendly little sting ray and still managed to pull it together to get out there with the fam for a fun surf. Way to go Pancho!!!)

Brian Scott

Like they say, the family that _ _ _ _ _ _’s together… well, you know you can fill in the blank with just about anything, but the difference around here is that a lot of families lives revolve around the ocean; which is a lot to say about how these kids will grow up and will be doing lot of good in the future with this kind of upbringing. The youth is our future.. and their future relies on us. So, smile often, live life, love and be kind and the rest will follow… and if you want the bonus ingredient, SURF!! SBS is out ~
