Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, August 24, 2022

Brian Scott

Buenas tardes chicos! It was another gloomy grey day out there. Was actually pretty nice out there super early AM, but unfortuntely I couldn't get out & down to the playa until a bit later today. It’s always that “roll the dice” factor, but it was completely onshore and there wasn’t even anyone surfing down at the beach break; but looking north up towards the reef, after knowing my luck wasn’t going to change for the better at PC, I boogied up the reef where I saw a good head count out up that way. Not the typical time of year to shoot at the reef, but thankfully we always have that as a nice backup wave and pace to surf, since it likes all swell angles and since it’s already a mush burger of a wave (but with a bit of energy if you’re not watching yourself out there), today was more like an October day, only it’s still August.

This first unknown surfer shown taking off on a decent big chunky section. It kinda looked like a weird version of Hawaii’s Haleʻiwa Aliʻi Beach. Super fun wave, but can dish out some good beatdowns.

Luckily this guy looked like he knew what he was doing out there in the wild and messy conditions.

Ironically, 3/4 of the people out there were my friends who just got in today and are staying at the beautiful NSR and super popularly rented, Casa Soñada beach front home, which sits directly in front of Panga Drop. The views from this home is breathtaking to say the least. Here’s Gareth (one of the many guys in the group) racing to get around this big whitewater section.

Andrew, who I’ve known from past trips, taking this left on his backhand. We’re all eagerly crossing our fingers as it’s supposed to clean up hopefully tomorrow and if not, Friday is forecast to be looking really good!!!

Mike, another one of the guys, surfing this wave and actually making it look way better than it did in person. Yeah buddy!

There was those other few unknown peeps out there, this one happened to be a chica and she was ripping!

Pat here taking one of those classic long leg burner lefts all the way to the beach. Everyone was starting to come in by this point, so I think the Flor De Caña and cokes, were calling their names! Jajaja

And after looking over and seeing this, I knew it was my time to pack it up and make my way back home as well.

Brian Scott

Sean and his lovely wife Winnie, enjoying that spectacular view I was telling you about from Casa Soñada’s beach stairway down to the playa.

Not sure if there was a sunset, I couldn’t stay long enough to know, but either way the views of this place never cease to amaze anyone who visits this little slice of paradise! Let’s hope for sunnier skys mañana. Be sure to come on by to see what Señor Chris will divvy up for his Thursday surf report. Have a good rest of the evening amigos ~
