Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Hola amigos and welcome to the surf report for southern Nicaragua! This is Parker logging in with the midday shots. The waves were fun so check them out!!

Ok so today was all about leftovers. We had a pumping swell that hit late this weekend and is on its way out. Nonetheless, the fun factor is high- even if the size is down.

And the locals were still on it and stoked. I have a lot of shots of them show off because they were out ripping.

Lesther is a man with many tricks up his sleeves. Unfortunately, it wasn’t big and barreling so he couldn’t show off everything…

But he was shredding the small waves. Him and a few other muchachos have been training so it’s no wonder that their surfing is a lot more powerful.

Yeah, like I said, a full arsenal of tricks of his sleeves. Sick ones today amigo!

While we were all surfing the reef the other day, our primos up the road shared their new trailer with us. The boys from Surfari Charters do the all inclusive surfing and fishing right so kill a couple extra minutes and take a sneak peak into their ethos and operations. SUBU!!

The northern peak was offering endless peaks. The right and the left were both fun! Here are two of my favorite locals splitting it: Mulo and Chucoyo.

Talk about a fun guy to surf, hang out with, or go out with… Plus Mulo is surfing lightyears better, sticking his turns, and pulling into some sick barrels!!

Chucoyo rips though. He has solidified himself in the local shredders. I think he shows off the best rail game.

El Chele was hanging out on the southern peak. As usual, it’s a little bigger there; however, the shape isn’t as good. It can be runny and almondy so we face the age old question if size matters…

Surf coach and mentor Mateo was out with him. He showed off a few impressive turns and laybacks.

Though the size isn’t great, these kind of skatey rippable days are super fun! The size is good, the offshore is perfect, and it’s partly cloudy. Take out a fish if you need an extra little umpf but you should already be good to go on this beach break.

Case and point that your performance board can still shine in these conditions here…

The forecast is looking on the smaller side for a couple weeks. No worries, it rarely ever actually goes flat here. And if even if it gets “not fun,” talk to me and I’ll set you up on some rad day trips. Volcanos, waterfalls, ATV tours, breweries, zip lining, artisan markets, what else do you want???

Jackson will opt to surf and still send it!!!

If we are sharing some love with the locals today, let’s introduce Jeison. He started surfing a few months ago but he’s already surfing well. Something about practice makes perfect, right? Well, check the report in a few months and you’ll see him in overhead caverns.

Marlon Brando is getting close to that!! He is one of the locals with the smoothest and calmest style.

Some guys were linking up with some tubes but they weren’t as frequent. Thankfully, you can always find a barrel in this area of Nicaragua!!

Ok muchachos, though the swell is trending down and will remain like this for a few days, stay tuned. SBS, Buckets of wine, and Hotsticks will keep you updated with local happenings and showing off new activities/businesses. We appreciate you guys tuning in to today’s shots and have a good rest of the day primos!!
