Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, August 14, 2017

Brian Scott

Happy Monday Everybody! Guess what we received this morning..? That’s Right, some juicy new swell. Brian here, covering for mi amigo Baldo today. Scroll through and check out what we scored this morning… I think you’re in for a treat!

Brian Scott

This morning I jumped in the truck with the guys and we headed up to the big reef.

Brian Scott

When we arrived, there were already a bunch of heads on it, but how sick is this split peak A-Frame left and right take off. You don’t see that too often here at the reef.

Brian Scott

Chris Conner tackling a BOMB early this AM session. This photo really doesn’t do any justice how gnarly that wave really is! Good to see you back on the saddle buddy!!

Brian Scott

The waves were even breaking all the way to the inside section. This guy finishes up with a nice turn after a long ride.

Brian Scott

Manny always puts on a good show out there.

Brian Scott

This is how you become introduced to the reef quickly. Skip the small talk and just go for it. The worst part is being picked up and going back over the falls for round two. Good times!

Brian Scott

Some other small hazards to navigate through at this spot are them VW sized boils (photo center right) there’s not just one, but 2, maybe 4 or 5 possibly 6 you get to see all while trying to make the drop. Easy Breezy!

Brian Scott

Marsh Gregory executes his stylish finish to a well ridden wave here at the reef. But remember, he’s put in a lot of time out there, so his comfort level is higher than your average surfer at this spot.

Brian Scott

Speaking of people who put in a lot of time at this challenging wave… here Pancho Sanchez making the critical drop… look easy

Brian Scott

and blazes right on by them VW sized boils, with style!

Brian Scott

Cool, clam and collected. Yeah Pancho!!!

Brian Scott

This unknown rider today was out there on a really big gun (check the size of that thing under that lip) But he also had some pretty big juevos to go with that big orange rhino chaser. On a side note - Check those two dudes bout to get that wide swinging close out section on their heads. Ugh.. I bet they’re not too stoked right about now.

Brian Scott

Mr. Malone was out there and charing as well!

Brian Scott

Sick cover up buddy!

Brian Scott

and the clean exit. Well executed mi hermano!

Brian Scott

John Matthews taking a super gnarly drop. He stuck the landing fine, but the locomotive speed gobbled him up.

Brian Scott

Hot Carl was on fire today!

Brian Scott

Fuego! ! ! !

Brian Scott

He later told me that the water was so clear out there, he could see the entire bottom; which in some cases I’m not sure is a good thing?? I know he was psyching on his session today and seeing the bottom with crystal clear viz meant it was even all that more special to be out there today.

Brian Scott

This other unknown charger was absolutely going for it.

Brian Scott

I mean, check out that thing about to go square and get mentally nuts on the shallow reef.

Brian Scott

To pull into these things you have to fully, and I mean F U L L Y commit to it.

Brian Scott

To not do so, can definitely ruin your day, sometimes even the shape of your cabeza.

Brian Scott

Carlitos Caliente on one last gem of the session…

Brian Scott

Like a deep blue cathedral, being in that thing I bet.

Brian Scott

Coming out of a barrel here….

Brian Scott

There really aren’t any words to describe it. Just a feeling, so I’ve been told.

Brian Scott

Just to get a small idea of the speed coming out of one of these things.. check out how far Carl started to make his wrap. Nuts!! Awesome wave’s amigo!!

Brian Scott

I’m trying to get my (indoor) work finished up so I can hopefully head back out to the reef in a little bit for an afternoon session, but I’ll leave you fine folks with this parting sequence of Manny Resano’s not one, not two, but his incredible triple lip coverup. He went all Gabriel Medina on that wave!!! Sick one Manny! ~

Well hope you enjoyed & hopefully if you’re here in Nica-Land for this swell, I hope you definitely scored out there somewhere today. See ya soon...!
