Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, August 13, 2017

Brian Scott

Buen día surf amigos! Brian here, serving you up with the Sunday surf report and update on our current swell situation.

Brian Scott

I sat it out, waiting patiently to see if this swell would arrive this afternoon (to take some sick shots) and I waited and waited.

Brian Scott

Naturally, natures karma won today; since I waited, she brought with her some super dark skies and some nice long rains.

Brian Scott

But it sure didn’t stop these few to ride it out in the rains.

Brian Scott

I always know when Mike’s back in town. All I need to see peeking through my lens is a Big Rusty Logo, and some Big Maneuvers, like this one here!

Brian Scott

Despite the unruly conditions, it was pretty nice out there (not speaking for the light of course), but I’m a glass half full kind of guy.

Brian Scott

Annnnnd then it started to pour! I always speak too soon… haha!

Brian Scott

Always good to see my good friend RAT down for a visit. Go RAT!!!

Brian Scott

The velvety texture on the water from the rain was actually pretty cool looking.

Brian Scott

It was just the other day (I believe) in one of my other reports I was saying how much fun it can actually be here to surf in the rain… take note!

Brian Scott

The conditions can actually get better (sometimes) helping to clean up any kind of low pressure system bringing us said rains.

Brian Scott

Crystal blue persuasion meets…

Brian Scott

I’m dancing in the rain. Hey speaking of dancing, check out how vertical this guy is popping out of the water...

Brian Scott

Now check out how far this guy is popping out of the water! Ya, that’s a whale! Pretty amazing to see just outside of our local lineup, to say the least. Whales RULE!!!!!

Brian Scott

Phillip agrees 100% with whales and buttery lefts after a nice rain.

Brian Scott

I think some people saw all the whale activity out the back and got inspired to do similar playful activities.

Brian Scott

Ahhh life is good here in Nica-Land, rain OR shine!

Brian Scott

See, the real beauty of surfing after a good rain here, is the glassy conditions that come with it. That is when the real magic happens.

Brian Scott

So perhaps my waiting today for more swell wasn’t completely waisted after all?!?

Brian Scott

Who’s ready for some Juicy new swell mañana??? THIS GUY!!!

So as you can see, we didn’t exactly get all that swell we were anxiously anticipating today; we did however have some little frontrunners coming in just as I was packing it up. So there’s still some good potential / curiosity as to how tomorrow morning’s going to play out… so you know what that means. Check back in again tomorrow and see what Mother Nature (hopefully) will be hooking us up with en la mañana. Chao for now!
