Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, August 11, 2017

Brian Scott

Welcome friends to the TGIF surf report. We had some small, occasional medium sized fun playful waves, with some rainy weather earlier in the day and patchy sunny skies in the afternoon.

Brian Scott

Conditions weren’t too bad either. Looking forward to hopefully some decent swell here coming up in the next few days.

Brian Scott

I guess the consolation prize for having small surf right now is being able to watch the Teahupoo contest.

Brian Scott

Still plenty of time throughout the day to get out there and get some, though!

Brian Scott

Our little reef up the road was actually a little better than our sand bar favorite break later in the day with the high tide coming up.

Brian Scott

But when this spot gets to the right tide with the right little swell, it becomes more like a full on rad little skatepark.

Brian Scott

A smorgasbord of hips, mini ramps and air sections, if you will.

Barry’s son is a pretty sick pro skateboarder, so you can see that his apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

Brian Scott

It’s actually kinda nice and refreshing when I see this break turn into this little skatepark style of wave. Good to mix it up. But it also really helps a bunch when people head up to this wave instead of our barrleing nieghbor and rip this place to peices!

Brian Scott

Like Nick here from Florida and his little crew. They were flaring this place up all afternoon with a bunch of style and sick performance surfing.

Brian Scott

Here’s an empty section for you to mind surf (or) skate on.

Banzai Barry always looking for a good barrel… he didn’t make this one he’s about to backdoor, but he gets my vote going for the gnarly gnar gnar barrel that he got smashed on; kudos Barry!

Brian Scott

Now, just picture a skateboard under his feet on a nice bowl section at the local skatepark. See what I’m saying.

Brian Scott

We’ve had by far the most consistent rains now in over 4 or 5 years. The people, the ground, land and agriculture certainly needs it. Look how lush and green it is!! Luckily, unless it’s onshore, this place is actually a fun place to surf in the rain.

Brian Scott

Whatcha got planned for the weekend? If nothing much, pull up a chair, relax and check in here. The forecast is calling for some medium sized waves all weekend with a bigger swell hopefully coming in Monday/Tuesday. Come back by mañana and lets hang out! See ya then ~
