Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, August 07, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Happy Monday everyone! This is Baldo reporting from Jiquelite beach, Tola, Nicaragua. Like yesterday, we had some light onshore winds all afternoon, right with the tide, but nobody was worried because the waves were glassy and still fun to paddle out.

Just a few people paddled out today, which made it easier to work with the conditions. Plenty of waves for everyone!

These conditions are great for practicing new maneuvers or polishing old ones. This guy was working on his airs.

And this other surfer got the “barrel” of the day title with this mini hair cover. The closest thing I saw to a barrel today.

We even had a Stand Up Paddleboarder with us today. He was getting some long rides.

There were a lot of floaters on everybody’s repertoire today.

And, of course, a lot of carvings too. This guy was throwing big sprays every time.

Javier Baldovinos

Nice style, right?

Javier Baldovinos

Here is another floater, look how crumbly that section was, and this guy knew exactly what to do.

Javier Baldovinos

Glassy lefts and rights all day long.

Javier Baldovinos

It was so nice and calm that a few people wanted to just sit back and relax while surfing.

Javier Baldovinos

But most of the surfers were not thinking about relaxing, they were throwing a good show up and down the beach.

Some of the Santana regulars were not sure to go out, they were all trying to decide if it was worth it or not… guess what they did… they all paddle out!

Look what I found from 2014... if you are thinking about coming to Nicaragua to get barreled, maybe October is a good time to do that, reserve your vacation rental house now and you might have the best barrels of your life!

The next few days seem better, come back to check them out. Cheers!
