Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, August 07, 2010

Whazzzup people! Eric and Lucha here bringin' you full coverage of today's Latino Americano competicion at Playa Santana, Nicaragua. The waves were running at about chest to head high with some much bigger sets coming in. Looks like there was a new swell starting to show. We had a lot of rain yesterday and this morning so the water was very brown. ( The wave at Playa Santana is right in front of a river too). There were some really talented surfers at the contest and they were blowin' up!

On the way to the contest this morning we had to cross this river. The guy on the motorbike in this photo almsot got sucked off the road. The car in front of us didn't stand a chance and had to turn around. It's a good thing we were in the Mule!

The guys were throwin' down all kinds of moves. From hacks to shacks and a bunch of aerial manuevers. Here's an unknown competitor flyin' through the air with a superman!

Lucha dropped me off at the contest this a.m. to get some shots, he went to another beach and caught this guy pullin' into a nice little tube. You can tell this is a different spot just by the water color.

Back at the comp, these ladies were makin' some good food. Grilling up chicken for a big crowd.

Rex was making his way through all his heats. Taking out one competitor at a time with turns like this.

Throwing around some chocolate looking water with a sweet backside turn!

This chica was just cruisin' the beach with her pet parrot on her shoulder. Nice smile!

This is my favorite photo of the day. Such a sick frontside hack! I think that this guy was from Venezuela and he was straight up ripping.

Here's an unknown competitor going vertical on this backside snap. Lots of talent in the water today

Alright that's all for today! The swell is building a little for tomorrow and the surfers in the heats are getting better and better. We'll be back with another day at the contest tomorrow so be sure and check us out. Llevarla suave amigos!
