Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, July 27, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hello everyone, welcome to Thursday’s surf report. The waves were still small today but later in the afternoon started getting a little bit bigger.

Javier Baldovinos

Even though the waves were small, they had a great shape and everyone was having a great time.

Especially for those who decided to bring their longboard, which is weird to see at Santana but the conditions call for it.

Javier Baldovinos

Don’t get me wrong, there were still a lot of people with their normal every day short board having a great time, like this kid, practicing some moves in preparation for the next few days.

Javier Baldovinos

I think he is ready to go for bigger waves, don’t you agree?

Javier Baldovinos

But as a good grom, the spontaneous reactions and tenacity to go for everything that comes near them can cause trouble among other surfers.

Javier Baldovinos

Talking about causing trouble… be careful with all the loose rocks on the beach, if you get distracted and kick one of them, you could get hurt.

Another good thing about these conditions is that the waves are great for beginners. This girl was catching a lot of waves with her longboard.

Javier Baldovinos

This kid was causing some serious damage on these waves. Look at him on this cut back, great style!

And here is Gustavo working on his longboard style at first peak. He still needs to work on his style though.

This is one of the set waves that came through… as always, Santana has something to offer for everyone at any random time.

According to the forecast the new swell was supposed to start showing in the afternoon, let’s see how it went.

In the afternoon the waves were a little bit stronger but still small.

Emeline came to the beach expecting to see a little bit more size but, thanks to her Kelly Slater board (sadly you can’t see it here) she was killing it. She even said it and the end of the session “the board did everything, not me!”

Today we were celebrating my wife’s 23rd anniversary of being in Nicaragua. And what a better way to celebrate it than by coming to the beach with the kids and enjoy the beach and the sunset.

With a big Shaka from Mateo, it’s time to say good bye. Come check out the surf tomorrow, for sure it will be bigger and better.
