Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, July 23, 2017

Brian Scott

Hola mi gente and Welcome to the Sunday Funday Surf Report! Brian signing in here to help bring yet another fun weekend to a proper close!

Brian Scott

The waves are in the XS zone right now and with the super lunar high tides swinging in at over 9+ feet, our shore & sand has been eaten from the shore pounders thus making our beach abnormally slanted, wedgy and super fun…

Brian Scott

… if you’re into thumping little micro breach break barrels that is.

Brian Scott

Luana wasn’t so keen on paddling out until I prompted to her to just go and try for 3 for the day. It’s always nice to go get refreshed with a little water time, so I think she was glad she paddled out!

Brian Scott

On the other hand, this is what might have kept a few from entering the water and instead simply just watching from the comfy seat under a nice palapa or hammock with a Sunday Funday cocktail.

Brian Scott

Check it out… micro Teahupo'o comes to Nica!

Brian Scott

Despite the mega super high tide, people were still out there riding waves to oblivion on the shore. Kudos amigo!!

Brian Scott

The spectating was just as fun today. Louise here, getting some good snaps of her husband Rob while he surfed on this beautiful day here in Nica-Land!

Brian Scott

Small doesn’t necessarily mean un-rideable. It’s just code for “get creative” with your quiver.

Brian Scott

Like these surfistas, I imagine they may be heading back for a quick board change up. I recommend any kind of a log, fish, or even a surf mat, so you can go get throttled on those inside shore pounders! So FUN!!

Brian Scott

Like this dude here on his Wave Storm. So let me ask you, which angle do you like better?

Brian Scott

Same dude, same wave, different angle. See what a little difference in light does for ya and the different moods each one can evoke.

Brian Scott

This guy’s just checking to see if his really big single fin is still intact. Yup, you made it out unscathed to surf another day amigo. Props for not even breaking that thing in half with todays funky waves!

Brian Scott

So this is what we call small here, which normally isn’t too many days during our peak surf season; and although it’s small, the conditions are usually still pretty epic.

Brian Scott

Scott agree’s 1000%!! Shaka Braddah & Happy Sunday!

Brian Scott

My new amigo Rob made such a good call by bringing his twin fin fish down for todays session. Perfect little board for todays little waves!

Brian Scott

Earlier I said, people were still out there riding waves to oblivion on the shore. This guy get’s the “Loco” chico award of the day!

Brian Scott

Now you see WHY?!?!?! He’s probably still finding sand in places he didn’t know sand could go in.

Brian Scott

I feel this guys pain completely, but look at the stoke on his face. I don’t think he’s all too sad.. I know his board feels sad, its even missing a fin. That poor thing went through the ringer, but he rode the heck out of that thing; and in the end, that’s all that matters!

Brian Scott

Stoked to have met my new friends Rob, Louise and Luana from Florida. You guys are definitely doing Nica the right way!! They’re schedule is chock full of just about every outdoor activity you can think of OR would want to do on your first trip to this amazing place. Good hanging with you today!

Brian Scott

Looks like this fella and his board made it to see another surf day as well.

Alrighty my weekend amigos and amigas! Get ready for the week ahead as we are expecting some rather large surf towards the end of this week. Stay tuned, but definitely check back daily since we try and bring you as much of the goods as we possibly can via the digital inter-webs! Dale pues y nos vemos pronto ~
