Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, July 23, 2009

Hi and welcome to the Thursday surf report.  This is Roberto “Lucha Libre” Garcia bringing you the barrel fest from one of the better spots we have up north.  The waves were firing today or maybe I should say going off or pumping, anyway it doesn’t matter how we say it, we only have to say check it out and realize it by yourself.  It was well over head on sets with perfect offshore winds.

On the first shot of the day we have Colin “El Matador” setting up with a sick bottom turn, getting ready to pull into this sick left hander.

Yesterday our buddy Christian “Sr Barrel” couldn’t paddle out because he was hurting with the cut he got 2 days ago.  Today he couldn’t resist to be watching the action from the beach, so he paddled out and scored many killer waves like this one.  Check him out working on his backside style.

Here we have Billy “Busey” drifting a nice sizeable left all the way in to the beach.  Hey Billy the BBQ is still waiting for you!!!

On the last shot of this crew we have Ed “Freefall” riding one of the many good rights he had all day long.  Hey guys, it was so nice to see you again.  I really appreciate your ride, see you next time!!!

We had waves barreling all over the place today, but it was really hard to catch them because the current was doing its thing as well.  Check out this left barreling for about 6 or 7 seconds all the way in with no takers.  Oh, we can put a bus inside that thing and easily would get shacked.

We keep talking about barrels, that’ all it was today.  Here is Mr Brown doing his favorite move “setting up to get super shacked”.  We have Ed and Billy watching Mr Brown doing his thing.

Here we have Sam getting deep behind the curtain.  He easily made it out of this barrel because this wave opened up.  Hey buddy, we have all this sequence if you want to get it.

This is an unknown surfer digging deep with a sick bottom turn on this right.  Be careful man because if you fall you can get hurt.  That’s all sand but it feels like concrete when you hit it.

Our very own D-lite was part of the action out there but when he got there the tide was a little too high so he couldn’t get shacked but he still caught a couple of sweet waves.  Here he is showing us how is done with a cool style.

Today was one of those days that you wish you could be here.  Where were you?

A few local kids paddled out and were able to pull into a couple of big ones.  This is Martin “El Zopilote” showing a little bit of the Nica style on the big barrels.

Here we have JJ with a sweet vertical snap on this right.  All we can say is that he was destroying waves all day long.

We always have some sick wipe outs.  Here we have Carlitos going over the falls.

This is exactly how it was.  We had boards flying everywhere.  Sorry Buddy!!!

The swell is supposed to pick up tomorrow so be sure to check back with us.
