Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, July 20, 2008

Welcome. This is Roberto “Lucha Libre”, Jairo “Come Pan” Panic, and Mateo “Pledge” bringing you the surf report this Sunday. We went back to the same spot as yesterday and it was firing again. The waves were running well overhead with offshore wind. So we paddled out there and shared the waves with just a few other guys. Check it out!

The first shot of the day we got Mateo “Pledge” taking off on a super good left. I think “Pledge” has had a great summer working for us down here. I think normally in Florida he doesn’t quite get waves like this.

The next shot of the day we have an unknown rider on a great looking right. There was a ton of waves rolled in like this and set up perfectly for getting barreled.

There a small group of Frenchman out there surfing. They were surfing super well and getting some incredible waves. Here is one of them on this left clocking in some tube time.

The next shot is from the same group of guys. This guy is pulling into probably one of the best waves that rolled in today. You know he is stoked he came down to Nicaragua for this week.

We will take a break form the barrel shots and move on to something different. Here is an unknown rider with a solid front side hack. He makes it look easy, but when the waves are hitting the sand bar with this much power and speed it is anything but easy to pull off this turn.

The waves today we offering a lot of different things, from barrels to poundings, this guy wanted to have it all. He pulled into one of the heavier sets and yes, he got incredible barrel, but no he didn’t make it out. He did break his board though.

Here is an empty wave with a pretty thick lip. There were so many good waves and not enough surfers to take them all.

Here is a lucky surfer taking off on a super fun left. It was so great having your pick of the waves out there. That’s the thing, when the waves get to a certain size it thins out the crowd a lot.

This guy paddled straight out and the first wave he takes off on sets up like this. I think he could stand straight up in that thing!

The last shot of the day we are leaving you with this sick right just reeling down the beach. It was super good today, but the waves drop off tomorrow. (Only by a foot or two so it’s going to be fun all week.) Be sure to check back!
