Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, July 19, 2008

Welcome to the Saturday surf report. This is Roberto “Lucha Libre” and Mateo “Pledge” bringing the action. The waves were firing today! The swell was pumping and the wind was offshore and there were only seven guys in the water. We heading up north and we got some killer shots and some killer barrels. Check it out!

Here is another shot of the lineup. This is a left down the beach just throwing. Since there were so few guys in the water there were a huge number of waves that rolled in unridden just like this.

We brought our buddy Norwin “Chulin” Estrella up here with us. Here he is, on a nice left, super stoked to get into some powerful waves.

Here is an unknown rider taking off on an excellent right about to pull into a pretty heavy barrel. It was so great to surf such good waves with so little people.

Mateo “Pledge” was out there as well enjoying the prime conditions. Here he is getting piped on this left, and yes he did come out.

Here is a shot of a foamy insider. Yeah, these were the waves on the inside. Not a fun paddle out at times, but the reward was definitely worth the battle.

The wipeout of the day goes to Emir “El Banana.” We not sure what he was trying to do here, but it looks like a sideways dive into the falling lip. He definitely had an interesting strategy for this wave.

Just to show you how much power some of the waves had, take a look at this left. The waves were incredible, and if you pulled into one like this you definitely wanted to make it.

Moving to the next spot we passed by some pros taking advantage of this empty right hand point break. Yeah these guys were loving having this wave to themselves. You might be wondering why we didn’t go out. Well, take a look at the next pictures and find out…

Here is a shot of the lineup of the next wave we surfed. Yeah, here it is looking nearly perfect. Well, it was not perfect, but there were some waves that came pretty dang close.

For example, here is Jairo “Come Pan” Panic on his day off, getting a solid barrel on this heavy left. He had clients for the past eight days, and was sick of taking shots of other people scoring killer waves, so he was ready to get out there and enjoy some for himself.

Alright, now for a wave that will blow your mind. This is Oliver “El Monito” Solis taking off on quite the big wave.

Here he is with the bottom turn and the set up.

And yes, “El Monito” official deep in the green room…..

Still going….

Really……

Yes, he comes out!

Does a quick check for the camera, then the hack!

Yeah, Oliver was all smiles after that!

Mateo “Pledge” all in all had a great day. There were times when it was rather tough. Especially the fight with that tiger! I mean that what happened to your shirt, right?

The last shot of the day we will leave you with this perfect left. The forecast is showing tomorrow morning with the same conditions as today then by midday the waves barely drop off. So we should have some killer waves again tomorrow. Check back!
