Nicaragua Surf Report for Thursday, July 18, 2019

Good morning everybody and welcome to a fresh upload of photos with Hotsticks! Shocking news: the waves are still fun so you may want to check out the report.

Hey, you know, before we start, let's say thank you. Appreciation is good, welcomed, and needs to be done more often. So, thank you to all of you faithful subscribers who check out our shots everyday. We know it eases the morning work routine but still, we're stoked that y'all are stoked, always supporting us, and sending all of those nice emails. We've been doing this report for over 14 years and we will keep doing it until Nicaragua no longer has waves!

Here’s the skinny today: lots of west sets, some south left sneakers in there, strong offshores, a dropping tide all morning, and a significant chance of barrels. Is that concise and convincing enough?

Will you hang with us for one more sec? You've heard all about CREA through my reports: educating local Nicaraguans in hopes of an even brighter future. First, if you didn't get in on their raffle, you were missing out (luckily, they'll have it again next year). Second, if you like pizza and you don't have dinner plans tonight, here is a layup. Another selling point: El Boquita is beuatiful and has an epic sunset view. Enough said? Go there for dinner tonight for tasty food, to support a local nonprofit, and hang out with some cool residents!

We’re going to start with Chris Conner’s sequence. Tell me what you think of this wave after you finish scrolling through it.

One of my favorite things about this guy is who he stands for: family man, good heart, respectful surfer, always smiling and stoked, and he keeps those surf secrets tight lipped. Basically, he’s a stud in and out of the water.

Ohh and he also knows how to find the pit!!

I’m going to be showing you a handful more rights of perfect ruler’s edge perfection. Check out how this one slowed up perfectly for his exit. Yeah Chris!!

All of the local residents were getting their waves today! Jhaura on this one finding one of three rights I watched him lock into.

Some of these waves were a touch smaller so they were tough to keep your line without catching the lip. At least, that’s how I justify it to my 6’5” self…

Let me show you this wave in this and the next photo. She’s got some lip and throwing hard, huh?

And now she looks perfect. Get it while the gettings hot before the waves are mellow for a little while. No worries, we’ve been surfing hard for a week and it’s time to dust off our golf clubs.

How about we shift over to see those sneaky lefts I mentioned earlier? Jhaura beat me to it and slipped into this guy. Look closer again: she’s so nicely slowing up for another clean exit. Love it!!

I think this one was also Jhaura. I’m going to upload some of these shots to our Instagram story and we’re going to have a poll of who crushed the morning session harder: Jhaura or Chris. Quality of that right versus quantity of waves and front/backside.

Turns matter too! Or, do they matter? Maybe that should be the second poll :)

Ohh man, she’s gorgeous. I wonder what the incoming tide will show? If it’s anything like the morning, it’ll be light crowds, heavier wind, and plenty of tubes.

Alright damas and caballeros, I’m going to leave you with one more with some attitude. Don’t let your brand new board get caught under that lip. Y’all have a great rest of the weekend! Baldo will be up for some shots tomorrow then I’m back on it for the weekend. Buen dia a todos!!
