Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, July 18, 2010

The wind is onshore and the waves are junk but that doesn't matter...San Juan Del Sur is going off this weekend!  It's the celebration of "Sandinista Day".  Everybody has tomorrow off of work and there are lots of events and parties going on.  One of the big events is the Sailfish tournament which took place at the Marina here in SJDS.  Here's a shot of the trophies up for grabs.

We did cruise around looking for a few ridable waves.  Unfortunately, we didn't find too much.  Unless you are on a surf trip, you probably didn't surf today.  It looks like bad wind conditions for the next couple of days so bear with us.

There were all kinds of sporting events going on for the holiday weekend.  Volleyball is one of the favorites and they were going at it today!

Check out Pancho, poaching in on the photo with the Surfari Charters and Surf Sanctuary crews.  There were rough seas but these guys still managed to kill it!  Surf Sanctuary released a Sailfish and Surfari.....

Surfari crushed it!  SUBU!!!!

They had a killer two days of fishing which included two sailfish releases and a marlin hook-up!  Stay tuned for video of the Marlin - Lances says it was epic.

Congrats you guys.  Love to see our friends doing well.

Have a look at the surf today.  If you participated in the fishing tourney or anything else today, you definitely didn't miss anything.

The Dorado and Wahoo haven't shown up this year yet so the prize for biggest fish went to a Roosterfish.  This 48'pounder won the prize for biggest fish today.

Here's a cool shot of the Surfar crew (Lance, Kristin, Jimmy and Norlan), coming in after a long day of fishin'.  Check out the beach-soccer game going on in the background.  We've got similar conditions forecast for tomorrow, so check back to see how we keep from going crazy!

How do you get your photo of a big 'ole FL Flounder on NSR?  Well, it helps if you are my Mom, but the main reason is the killer NSR Visor!  Nice fish Mom!
