Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, July 03, 2017

Javier Baldovinos

Hey everyone! Today was a great day for surfing Santana beach. The waves were not so big but had an amazing shape. Enjoy!

Javier Baldovinos

First peak was a great spot to be, at the beginning when the tide was still kind of low it was small with A-frame peaks.

Javier Baldovinos

“El Matador” Jan was all over the place having fun with them.

Javier Baldovinos

Then when the tide reached a better height, some bigger sets started to show up.

Javier Baldovinos

Just what Cándido Quedo was waiting for. Here he is deep in the pocket.

Javier Baldovinos

A few frames later he was not ready to leave the green room, even though it looks like the room collapsed on him.

Javier Baldovinos

But he made it out through the curtain right in front of the spectators.

Javier Baldovinos

Standing tall and ready to bow for the ovation.

Javier Baldovinos

The situation was similar in the middle of the beach, A-frames with long waves for everybody to share.

Javier Baldovinos

Aurelia “the mermaid” was having a lot of fun today with the rights.

Javier Baldovinos

But the best waves were at first peak, in between sets the waves were not so great but every once in a while you could score a small nugget here and there.

Javier Baldovinos

You just had to be patient to wait for the sets, and try to be at the right spot once the sets came.

Javier Baldovinos

Almost full stand barrels! Looks like this guy is not complaining about being early Monday morning.

Javier Baldovinos

Of course, not every wave was a perfect barrel… some of them were just closed outs.

Javier Baldovinos

And others were just too fast, a miscalculation and you were gone over the falls.

Javier Baldovinos

Or like this one, super hollow and thick!

Javier Baldovinos

The rights were super fun, longer rides with more wall to play with.

Javier Baldovinos

What? Another barrel? Oh yeah, this is normal at Santana beach.

Javier Baldovinos

Something that is not normal is to see these many people on the beach, there was a couple walking on the beach holding hands, a mother with his kid collecting shells, the fishermen ready to go out on the boat, and also Indira, Paula and friends staying at Casa McVay, one of the houses we managed inside Rancho Santana. Hello Indira and Paula!

Javier Baldovinos

What a perfect way to enjoy the beach... if you don't surf, right?

Javier Baldovinos

If you are at the beach when these guys come back you can buy fresh fish directly from the boat for a very reasonable price.

What to do after a great surf session in Nicaragua? Sit down or lay on a hammock and relax with your buddies in one of the NSR’s vacation rental properties… this is Bryan Meyer and friends chillin’ at Casita Santana, just steps away from the beach.
