Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, June 28, 2021

Brian Scott

Hola! Happy Monday to my surf wave riding amigos! Got down there really early today to find the tide just hitting peak high, so I came back around an hour later and found this… click that read more button to check it out.

Brian Scott

It was a bit smaller today than yesterdays total froth fest, but if you made it out for the morning sesh, you were still greeted with some pretty amazing surf; like this unknown gal ripper that was getting more tubes actually than any other dude out there today.

Brian Scott

That’s saying something because I would have to go back and look over my complete folder which has a large number of sick sequences from this mornings shoot. But Carlos always get’s a plentiful amount of waves AND he makes just about every one of them too!

Brian Scott

A lot of this was going down, and not just in one or two places either. There were about 3 or 4 working peaks. This is the left off of THE best one out there though.

Brian Scott

There must be a crew of chica surfers in town, because there is a large number of gals out there surfing every day and I actually don’t have any clue as to most of who they are. This one and the dama in the intro definitely aren’t shy of the tubes…. that’s for sure!

Brian Scott

I threw up an empty wave shot yesterday that got a bit of some pretty cool feedback, along with some small-kine jealousy of how dang good it was (I think seeing an empty wave that’s so good, go by unridden) does something to a surfers mind and deepest inner feelings. Like, OMG, I so wish I was there and on that unridden wave!!!!! UGH..!! lol

Brian Scott

I’m not sure if Derek was ever a mechanic in his long list of skilled trades, or if he has even spent any time in any kind of auto shop, but I can assure you, he’s been and seen under the hood of this V8 more times than most have in their entire life or surfing career at Playa Colorado.

Brian Scott

It was so dreamy out there this morning, there was the most ominous looking dark sky I think I’ve ever seen as I was coming back from town today after I shot (hence the later report today, my apologies), however, you wouldn’t have even thought about it early this AM, but I am curious if this guy could see high enough east and he could have maybe predicted the storm that was making it’s way here.

Brian Scott

What did you used to do when you were….. ya know, like just a little kid. I’ll be completely honest, I wasn’t getting shacked like this little dude. I think I was maybe playing around on a sponge in the waves at this age and just starting to skateboard. This kid has been killing it here in his little vacation sandbox.

Brian Scott

This place can handle some pretty big things. Right now, it just seems to be the onslaught of people coming here after being held prisoner from coming to one of their favorite surf destinations for over a year. When you see the loc’s paddling outside the lineup, just look right to this spot! I see it every time when I’m shooting and I always know were I need to be!

Brian Scott

Unfortunately for this traveler, he just got caught on the other (wrong) side of the Nica version of the double yellow lines separating the carpool lane. Don’t worry, tickets will be warranted for misbehaved drivers.

Brian Scott

Oscar, ALWAYS on the fast track…

Brian Scott

But very MUCH like how it works with skateboarding, you just cannot GO or DO big tricks without any legitimate speed. Oscar surfs with a lot of speed and power!

Brian Scott

OK, I’m gonna leave you fine people with one of the last sequences I nabbed from today, of my amigo Seth. Starting here with the epic and grande super wide angle, pulled back lineup view and his paddle in.

Brian Scott

Yeah buddy, you’re in the right spot! Never let this wave out run you. Unless you like going straight.

Brian Scott

Pumping and weaving along this perfect green gem, with a lip that looked like it didn’t have a single drop of water out of place for pretty much the whole wave.

Brian Scott

YEAH… so to sum up todays surf report. It was another great day of waves and surfing. Exactly as Seth signals, much Aloha and super blessed to be in this magical wonderland of waves! Mahalo Nui Loa for checking out todays report ~
