Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, June 27, 2008

This is Roberto “Lucha Libre”, Jairo “Come Pan” Panic, and Mateo “Pledge” with the Friday surf report. The waves were shoulder to head high with offshore wind. It was really fun and playful out there today. There was a bunch of people in the water today surfing good, but the Chamorro brothers were out there just dominating. Check it out!

We will start with Luis “La Baloy” Chamorro who took off on this set wave to score a little green room time. It has been interesting watching “La Baloy” surf here and in the contest. Normally people surf really hard in contest and more or less apathetically when the waves are not bombing. Not “La Baloy”, no matter how good the waves or how many people are watching he just kills it every time.

“Come Pan” swam out there to get some water shots. The water camera can be frustrating sometimes because you go out there for hours, fight the current and the waves, and only come up with a few pictures.  It is all worth it when you come up with that one killer shot. Here is “La Baloy again with a killer shot about to hack this left.

Now for the other Chamorro, this is Augusto “La Gaviota” just flying across the lip of the left. It was so impressive to see him surfing so fast and yet so fluid. Note: Our “Come Pan” on the inside working the under water housing, nice work!

This is the second shot of “La Gaviota” just slashing into the top of this right. If last weekends contest was today and they judged the surfing of this session then I would say “La Gaviota” would definitely be the champion.

“La Gaviota” on his final shot of the day doing a Ron Machado-ish backside snap. Hey “La Gaviota”, if you surf like this in the next contest you might just steal the title from your brother. Very impressive today!

Ricardo “Kelly Slater” and his brother left the kitchen of their restaurant for a little bit to get some fun waves. We ate again at their restaurant this week and, yeah, it was killer! Nice work in the kitchen guys!

That’s all we got for today. The last shot we got an unknowner on a nice a –frame.  The waves should be similar tomorrow so it looks like we are going to have another fun day. Check back tomorrow!
