Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, June 25, 2011

Hola amigos!  This is Eric with a quick snap of the lineup this Saturday.  Onshore, small, rainy, sharky....  Not a bad day to take off from surfing.  That's why we have our man Lucha Libre Garcia with today's report out of SJDS!

First at all we want everyone to know that we have a small crew representing Nicaragua in the ISA World Surfing Contest at Playa Venao in Panama.  This contest is going to start tomorrow and it is going to be on for the next 10 days, where 27 countries will be trying to get the gold.  The national nica team is commanded  by our national champ Rex “La Bestia” Calderon, Roque “Balboa” Calderon, Luis “La Baloy” Chamorro and Gerardo “El mope” Miranda and Jose “El Corage” Hernandez on the big panga.  We’ll keep you guys update about this event, best of luck folks!!!

Since the winds were howling onshore, we decided to hang around town and snap a few shots.  Our first stop “The Bull Rodeo”, where more than 300 people made it to enjoy the show.  There was some sick footage for video but unfortunately Andrew couldn’t make it down.

Somebody had to pay the taxes, but luckily it was only the hit.  No bleeding this time!

We had the 6th Dorado fishing tournament and we stopped by the marina to check all the action.  Here is a shot of the scene!

The Surfari Charter’s Crew made it down to try to get the crown and be the Dorado Kings.  The fishing was kinda slow but there were still some nice Dorados out there to catch.  They scored a nice 16 pounder and the winner was a sick 19.5 lbs.

Kivu wanted to have his own photo with all the Dorados or maybe we should say the Doradas.  Smart guy, uh!!!

The Surf Sanctuary crew made it down as well and they scored some sick ones too.  Nice catch guys!

Alright folks, that’s all for today.  The winds are supposed to stay on for the next few days, so stay tuned to see what happen!
