Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Brian Scott

Hey there NSR fans… GUESS WHAT WE GOT BACK TODAY??? That’s right, the sun, no wind (not offshore, nor onshore which is a nice change) and some pretty big surf!! You’re in for a really nice treat today and you all deserve it for having to wait it out through all those stormy days.

Brian Scott

The sets were coming in nice and consistent today. Lots of waves for everyone. Just keep a look out for those bomb sets that were coming in ever now and then. Could of been the ride of your life our there today!

Brian Scott

Carlos (and the other regs/locs) were on it, as always and they were slaying some of the biggest sets of the day.

Brian Scott

This wave is undeniably fasssst! So there’s a lot to say about getting to you feet and into one of these beasts when it’s firing like this. That and the other portion requires the commitment. Colin’s got both.

Brian Scott

My buddy visiting from CA, Brett is a pretty tall guy, standing well over 6 feet; so this gives you a good idea of how much good swell we had.

Brian Scott

Another good size indicator. Lets just say, it was pumping!

Brian Scott

The reef up the road was keging as well. Its also always a bit bigger up that way.

Brian Scott

It was an all out barrel fest today. Tubes everywhere!

Brian Scott

and very makable on most of them too!

Brian Scott

Just ask Jamie. He’s not only the president, he’s also a member of tube town!”

Brian Scott

The mysto shore pound showing her teeth today. I could hear this waves breaking all the way from my house, which is about a 10-15 min bike ride away inland. Sounded like thunder.

Brian Scott

Everyone I talked to said that there was a lot of energy in this swell. Very heavy and thick.

Brian Scott

Left or Right? Take your pick. Both ways were amazing today.

Brian Scott

Back over to the reef. Now if you know this wave, it’s usually one of the windiest waves here (when it’s usually offshore). Not today. Sheet glass and perfect conditions. Not to mention really big too!

Brian Scott

When the tide came up later in the morning there started to be a little more room on the wave face for some turns.

Brian Scott

and some unique carving expression sessions.

Brian Scott

That’s a lot of water displacement, Brett!! Sick one!!

Brian Scott

Lesther cutting right through the crowds.

Brian Scott

Can we raise our hands and get an AMEN for this amazing weather and surf today!!

Brian Scott

But the biggest show today was all about them barrels.

Brian Scott

and how incredibly glassy the water was. Our mini version of Nias!

Brian Scott

There was a lot of carnage out there as well. A LOT! I counted 3 broken leashes and at least 4 or 5 broken boards.

Brian Scott

Last parting shot and claim/wave of the day.. and rightfully so!! This guy was slotted all the way at the take off spot well before this sign and was barreled the whole way. I’m sure a lot of people are exhausted and sore from all the sessions they put in today. But it was such a GREAT day for a change. It might be back to onshore possibly mañana, but today was such a treat and we loved every minute of it. I hope you all enjoyed too. Lets cross our fingers and see if we wake again to the see same thing all over again?? Rest up and hopefully we’ll see ya out there! Cheers ~
