Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, June 14, 2017

What’s up everybody?! This is Parker checking in with today’s fun morning shots. Kill a few minutes at your cubicle and click that “read more” button!

Today and tomorrow are looking like our down days. That’s ok because the last weekend and beginning of this week were all time! Rutchiel still getting out and finding a fun left this morning.

The swell is a little different right now than what it was. Did you notice how crossed up and peaky the swell was in those previous reports? I don't think I've seen so many sick makeable barrels at our home break... Now, there is one predominant direction so you had to race down the face on some waves. Thomas, a yearly visitor here, knew how to adapt.

Everyone calls Maycol “little Maycol” but his style, poise, and focus on this waves calls for a more mature name. Maybe we reinstate “Fuerte?” He has a great crew of local rippers to look up to and learn from.

Soon enough, he’ll be sticking his tubes, turns, and airs. But, that board is still logging more time above the lip than it ever did with Eric!!!!

Did you guys see report with SBS (nickname still not publicly disclosed) or our Instagram story (@surfnsr) yesterday? The local workers took out a backhoe and they dug out the river. Combined with the recent rains and a new trench, the river was flowing.

I’ve only lived here for two years but I’m going to play devil’s advocate. Yes, a flowing river is great to add more sand to the bars- no doubt. But remember, we’ve still had plenty of epic days thanks to long interval swells redesigning the bars, the outer reef’s refraction effect, and combo swells (all without the river flowing). Nonetheless, I’m optimistic to see the river’s potential and how it complements the set up. Pray for more rain!!

However, the ensuing shot is convincing and speaks for itself. That is a nice peak abnormally south of the beach club…

And a nice stamp to put on the section!

Although, the best wave all session rolled through untouched. This sneaker caught everybody snoozing and out of position.

The only hard part about photography is watching the perfect gems roll through untouched. If I’m out of the water, I at least want to see my friends get barreled! Carlos, Lesther, Kevin, donde estaban cuando vino esta ola?!?!

Well, Tatiana was in position for the next one! Did you hear that she and Nacho recently won “Tola’s best pizza” award? Before the rockstar fiesta this weekend, grab dinner at pizza night with Tati at Casa Ananas.

“Did somebody say food?!?!” - John Gilem. John, since when your wife Joan has been hooking it up with freshly baked cookies, I think you might be getting on the report more often!

Have you guys looked at the forecasts, radar, and listening to the local radio? We want to give you a heads up that a storm is likely going to hit us tomorrow into the weekend. You can expect heavy rains, a lot of variable winds, and binge watching a Netflix series (or two). Be careful driving on the muddy roads and crossing the river beds!

Until then, keep blasting the lip of the wave off and making it rain that way.

Ok guys and gals, I’m going to wrap things up. I shot photos at the mid tide to get see a few turns in (and because small hollow low tide barrels are frustrating for a big guy like me). But, the tide is low so hopefully there are a few hard corners to find during my lunch hour. Thank you all for checking in today and have a good rest of the week amigos!!
