Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, May 29, 2020

Brian Scott

Happy Friday people! We all woke up to a nice big new swell this morning. Unfortunately the wind and weather had some other ideas for making today for surf so we did what’s best… we improvised and looked for the best place around that was working… well, semi working. Take a look!

Brian Scott

Here’s a pretty good image of the size and how unruly and mean the ocean was this morning. Just for reference, check out Ty paddling out. He’s that little spec about mid frame by the rocks.

Brian Scott

Danny climbed the hill above to try and get the birds-eye view with his phone. Unfortunately security didn’t like him climbing on their hill so they kicked him off.

Brian Scott

Dario was one of the first ones out this morning. Nabbing a few frothy ones.

Brian Scott

Sadly he was also one of the first one’s back in.

Brian Scott

and when I say that, it’s because his leash broke on that last wave and his board got washed all the way in to the rocks. :(

Brian Scott

Sorry Dario… don’t be too hard on yourself. Well, I guess I understand after seeing the damage the rocks did to your board and you told me that’s your last good board…. I’d be bumming too!

Brian Scott

Well, I felt really sorry for Dario, but the other few guys were still out there and needed my undivided attentions. Especially watching them dodge big sets like this here.

Brian Scott

Philou, aka Philipo scratching into a nice size one!

Brian Scott

Here’s another angle of the size of the drops over by the rocks. Pretty steep.

Brian Scott

Tony Z was one of the other rogue surfers to make the shifty paddle out this AM. Racing around the section of this unpredictable funky wave.

Brian Scott

If you get a good one, you can get a good leg burner almost all the way in. Tony, wrapping round another section and heading for the home plate.

Brian Scott

Philip, “Did you see that last wave…. it was THIS WIDE”!!!! jajaja

Brian Scott

Well maybe he wasn’t talking about the size of the barrel but maybe the big shark he saw out there?

Brian Scott

Of course, It is the ocean and there are always BIG sea life around headlands and rocks and stuff like that!

Brian Scott

Mr. Chris taking off way behind the rocks. It’s a bit more sketchy than you may think.

Brian Scott

Getting to your feet on 90% of the waves at this spot is half the challenge.

Brian Scott

Here’s the exact reason why!!!!

Brian Scott

Hows that double, no maybe triple up?

Brian Scott

Ty hands down get’s the madman paddle award of the day.

Brian Scott

Balls out, no guts…. NO GLORY!!!! Yeah Ty, way to charge it like a MasterCard!

Brian Scott

If you like a square barrel takeoff, in front of a lot of sharp jagged rocks… Then this place is just for YOU!!!

Brian Scott

Just get to your feet and rest is al down hill!!

Hope you enjoyed todays little escape from the normal beach break surf reports that you’re used to seeing. Sometimes it’s good to get a way for a minute. Enoy the rest of the day wherever you may be! Cheers ~
