Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, May 27, 2018

Hello everybody and welcome to the Sunday Funday report with Parker. We’re logging in from southern Nicaragua to show some stormy shots plus (as always!) more action to keep you entertained and informed. Break up the Monday morning monotony and click “read more.”

Today’s surf conditions… hmmmm… no bueno. The giant low off the west coast of Florida is severely affecting our weather. Yesterday, today, and (possibly) tomorrow might be yucky days.

The beach break is empty so take your pick of waves!! As the dry season ends and the rainy season (winter) begins, the weather shifts and brings this normal unsettled weather. However, the storm is amplifying the affects. Conditions should clear up in a couple of days!

Besides the small fun sections, what do you see on the horizon? Hint: not the clouds. Judging by the two different colors of water, the rivers opened up. That means a lot of rain has fallen in the past couple days so I’m sure the locals and farmers are happy to have it.

“Rain rain go away… come again another day.”

I hope you’ve caught onto the NSR style!! When the surf is down, we like to inform and entertain you all with something more exciting. Last week was a fishing trip with Surfari Charters, yesterday was the NSR Surf Shop, and today is playing golf in Hacienda Iguana.

Every Wednesday, Iguana hosts an afternoon scramble. Starting promptly at 3:00pm, you play 9 holes of best ball for $25. That price includes your clubs, cart, green fees, and a small dinner/couple drinks afterwards. Unfortunately, Russel, aka the Brit, tried to pay in Euros.

Ben (Papi) and Russel (the Brit) both drove decent balls. Let’s see what The Chad does…

Well, when your family is royal surfing Australian lineage, it isn’t hard to crush the drive. That’s why you’re on our team, Chad!!

Sorry Papi, you can’t have the best shot every time.

How’s the course looking? Maybe a touch dry? We played before all the rains came so I’m sure the course is lush, green, and in prime condition now. How nice is it to have world class waves AND a fun course (with many quirks) all in the same neighborhood???

Ok, how are we looking on this par 4? We have a tricky shot because we were 100 yards out but you have to hit it up he hill onto the sloped green (with sand traps). Thankfully, it’s best ball so we all get a chance.

Chadalac, don’t work too hard man. Enjoy those Tonas and cigars while us peasants shoot.

We aren’t really sure how the Brit nailed this shot. Maybe he’s been eating all the gallo pinto in our meal plan so he’s fueled up and ready? We’ll get your tea and crumpets soon.

Looks like our (worse) half of the group is heckling from hole #5… Somebody is jealous of our cooler full of beers.

Alright preacher man, get us out of the kitchen and onto the green. We’re relying on you.

Success!! Buttttt looks a little unsuccessful to me at the same time…

Chad, pull mustache hair #103 for magical putting powers.

Help me Obi Ben Wan, you’re our only hope.

Papiiiii sinking da putt!!! “You [did not] get me this time, you crazy gringo!!”

Well, we had to show a little bit of love (even if they aren’t loved as much) to the other 4 guys who played. These muchachos rented out Rio Dulce V13 and V16 for the week, surfed all day, and mixed plenty of golf in there too. When’s the next trip, guys?

Ohh yeah, and little fun was had during the week as well.

While we wrap things up, let’s give credit to Hacienda Iguana. Thank you to the grounds crew, the office staff, and Dan Springfield for hosting this event. You all are the ones doing the leg work, prepping the course, and making things happen. We appreciate y’all for making sure we have a fun time! Ok amigos, time to wrap up and stay dry! Weather the storm for another day or two and let’s get back in the water. Gracias por leer nuestro reporte!!
