Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, May 26, 2018

Hello everybody and happy Saturday! Welcome to the weekend report with Hotsticks. We have some land and sea action to show you so go ahead and keep scrolling down.

Let’s give you all an update on conditions. It’s grey, rainy, but not onshore. It is a touch bumpy out there but the winds (probably due to the rain) have stayed very calm.

There are two reasons this is happening… 1. The Nicaraguan rainy season is starting so we have a couple weeks of unsettled weather. Or, 2. the system by Florida. When a low is on the other side of the country, we have onshores, rain, and cloudy days.

Ideal surf? Heck no. Still fun and enjoyable? Heck yes.

Jeison is an up and coming local. Or maybe scroll down because he’s already solidified himself as a ripper?

I respect him because he works hard but he also finds plenty of time to surf (and surfs hard too!). I’m stoked to see him advance so well in a short period of time.

Let’s talk about some other local happenings. NSR is a huge supporter of CREA (a local organization that promotes literacy to the community). CREA is hosting a raffle for a week in Rancho Santana, a credit for airfare, airport transports, spa credits AND horseback tours all in one winning. This is a great deal and supports an even greater cause. Besides, what’s a $100 at the end of the day? Stoke your wife out and click here

Speaking of stoked guests, meet Stephan. I did their check out visit today and they thanked us for a “perfect week.” That included an oceanfront house, the NSR meal plan, multiple boat trips, and a final visit to our surf shop.

Ok conditions are alright and fun out there… but let’s change it up, hey?

Welcome to the NSR Surf Shop!! When the tide or wind aren’t right, take a stroll and check us out. As you will find out in the next photos, we have you covered for just about everything surf related. Keep scrolling down amigos.

Iveth says us Americans need to wear more sunscreen. And I don’t disagree. The sun is hot and the surf sessions are long. Whether you want traditional zink, something different, or something with less environmental impact, we have all the brands! Aloe Gator, Avasol, Raw Elements… the list goes on to keep the sun off your face.

How about transportation? Parts of Iguana require 10 minute walks so think about a moto or scooter rental. Or let us call the rental car or golf cart rental shop. But, I’m going to recommend a moto: fun and accessible to all surf breaks. Just stay safe on them!

It was great to host the Vissla team last week- they rip!! But it’s even greater to have such a good relationship with that business. You’ll find tons of gear: baggies, shirts, hats, shorts, and maybe a few other goodies thrown in there too.

How about taking care of your the little ones on your trip… Make sure you push the little grommet into some waves too!! Daddy can rent one of our 100+ surf boards while Junior has fun on a boogie board.

On the topic of taking care of your loved ones, we have more than one idea. Joshue is the newest member our shop team and he’s a great dude! He is a mellow guy and talks English good. He’s also looking for a little present for his gorgeous girlfriend (maybe you need something for your wife too?). Mini purses, handbags, and totes are featured in our shop. Locally sourced, made, and sold, these bags support empowering and educating woman. What’s not to love? Neat stylish tote, happy wife, and a good cause…

Like I said, do yourself a favor and check out our shop in between sessions. Or if its crummy weather like today, come whenever between 8:30 and 5:30 any day of the week. Amigos, it’s a fun report to write- thanks for checking us out. Tomorrow’s weather might be funky too but I’ll keep you on your toes. Have a good safe Saturday night everybody!
