Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, May 21, 2017

Brian Scott

Hola amigos! Brian here back in action with the NSR crew & huge thanks to Parker and Baldo for covering me while I was away! Lo siento for the tarde report. We had very dismal unhappy weather throughout the the day, while I waited patiently checking the surf continuously for the conditions to improve, hoping for something good to show all you surf fanatics. My hopes were low, but I stayed strong with my gut feeling and…. well… you’ll see..!

Brian Scott

So this is pretty much what today consisted of. As I was taking a little lunch break at Pili’s, not many people were out surfing and the ones who did found it to be quite frustrating.

Brian Scott

Then low and behold.. I see the good luck wave guru himself come from out of no-where. carlosdecolorados flying out of the first real makable barrel and best wave I had seen all day.

Brian Scott

I wasn’t the only one to see it ether. The jungle has eyes and when the waves turn on. Those who wait patiently, pounce!

Brian Scott

Like T-Nizzle here. I wonder what Tony saw that brought him out of his mid day siesta?

Brian Scott

Ahhhh..now I see. That would do it!

Brian Scott

Like I said. The people who were patient were on it. Phillip about to get one heck of a magic session in.

Brian Scott

The winds were starting to switch from onshore and it even got more and more glassy as the center of the storm was about to pass over. Everything was about to come together and go epic and magical real quick!

Brian Scott

Anytime the waves are good, I can always count on seeing Josh out in the lineup. Actually I see Josh in the lineup anytime there are any kind of waves. But this Left sequence proves he spends more time than most here at his beloved CO pump house beach break he calls his backyard.

Brian Scott

The kid’s got this place pretty dialed in..

Brian Scott

… he’s been accruing a lot of tube time here, and the season is still early.

Brian Scott

Josh squeaking out the doggy door.

Brian Scott

Well done Amigo!

Brian Scott

Night and day difference if you compared this to the waves about 25 min earlier from this shot!

Brian Scott

The conditions were really cleaning up. Getting super glassy and the lighting was getting nutty.

Brian Scott

Always good to see  @katilaflora representing the ladies out in todays late afternoon epic conditions.

Brian Scott

Most people are familiar with seeing a lot of photos of Carlos in really deep barrels. Much like the guys on the shoulder in this image are about to witness. I personally like this shot of Carlos mainly because he has this insane paddling ability which allows him to get into all the barrels he's wracked up over the years surfing here.

Brian Scott

Like I mentioned earlier, the lighting was turning all super cool shades of awesomeness. The calm right before the storm! Literally.

Brian Scott

Glassy, perfect super sick barrels with the occasional quarter pipe vert ramp section. These are just a few of Carlos’ favorite things.

Brian Scott

If I had shot the photos earlier, none of this would be here for you to see, nor would you believe it since the perfection only lasted a short while before the stormy weather came back with non-stop rain.

Brian Scott

The perfect 1 hour session came… and it went. But we sure enjoyed it while it lasted!

Brian Scott

So, many thanks for you all being so patient for today post. I’d like to say it might have been well worth the wait?!? Lets see what kind of magic might come mañana! Buenos noches amigos ~
