Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, May 20, 2018

Brian Scott

Happy Sunday folks! Today was a super fun day… I got to spend it out in one of may favorite places, the ocean. That’s right, a boat trip. It’s always nice to mix up the perspective with the photos. So let’s see what today brought us.

Brian Scott

It was a an early start, like a 5am start; but that didn’t slow Sérgio down one bit.

Brian Scott

You’d be surprised to see how many people are still gracing our surf breaks that are accessible only by boat. The first place we checked had a pretty good pack on it, so I decided to take my amigos to a better spot where they had the waves all to themselves.. and as you can see, with some size too! This is where local surf knowledge pays off!

Brian Scott

The photos actually do make it looks a bit better than it was (we’ve had this onshore mess for a bit). But when you have a surf spot all to yourselves, who can complain?

Brian Scott

Fábio laying it on a rail at about 6:30am.

Brian Scott

Sheet glass is what it looks like, so we’ll take it anyway we can get it, right boys!?!

Brian Scott

There were a few growlers that came through. Here, Sérgio contemplates his next move.

Brian Scott

With the tide getting just about right for us to go check another spot, we figured it was time to head to and move on to maybe some bigger and better waves.

Brian Scott

Arriving to the next location, we were lucky boat number 3. Rafael didn’t even re-wax up, and was out there nabbing a few of the first few waves.

Brian Scott

Chris with a nice looking bottom turn…

Brian Scott

coming at me on the inside section.

Brian Scott

Nice one buddy!!

Brian Scott

Guilherme with some nice looking form on one of his many lefts today at this spot.

Brian Scott

Good times hermano!

Brian Scott

Sérgio isn’t small by any means, but he certainly make this wave look pretty small. If you need a recap ref, look at image number 7 again. That’s a good sized wave!!!

Brian Scott

Yeah buddy, rock n’ roll!!!

Brian Scott

Gabriel was tied for sitting deepest along with his amigo Danilo, so the distance was all them if they could connect one of these classic 200 yard lefts; which he was doing on this very wave.

Brian Scott

Here’s another shot of Gabriel floating a big section trying to make it around to connect for that perfect 200 yard ride.

Brian Scott

Smiles for miles after paddling back out from the noodle arm maker.

Brian Scott

Rafael, with a super sick giant roundhouse carve.

Brian Scott

How’d that one feel?? The looks tells me, maybe it was pretty nice!

Brian Scott

This is Danilo, the other one I mentioned who was sitting pretty deep out the back.

Brian Scott

I forgot to mention that a little while back, the two other boats left so these guys were surfing this place all to themselves for the rest of the day.

Brian Scott

Last but not least, here’s Fábio taking a really nice, well overhead wave… all while having his eye’s on the prize!

Brian Scott

BOOM!! I meant this PRIZE!

Brian Scott

Or if you like to mix it up, here’s another angle of thus said prize!

Brian Scott

Killing it Fábio buddy!!!

Brian Scott

I know this report seemed too short haha! So here’s a few shots from back at the homestead after I got back.

Brian Scott

Business was as usual, still onshore, but people making huge man carves with spray.

Brian Scott

And like always, anyone and everyone looking to get pitted…

Brian Scott

It’s what we live for anyways, right??

Brian Scott

Ok mi gente… that’s all I got for today. Hopefully in the next day or two we should start to see our next really big swell start to come in. Unitl then, hope you had a GREAT weekend and look forward to posting up some good pics this week if this swell delivers. Nos vemos pronto ~
