Nicaragua Surf Report for Monday, May 18, 2020

Brian Scott

Welcome to another day in Nicaragua. More fun waves… although today was a bit of a waiting game for that magic window. Waiting patiently paid off. Come on in and see why!

Brian Scott

Manny on one of the bombs that I saw right as I walked up. If you glance back at the first photo, that’s him taking off and knifing it under the lip.

Brian Scott

He drove through this thing, getting completely shacked and then came flying out with the spit. That’s how I knew… IT WAS ON!!!

Brian Scott

Here’s a really good perspective to see how much water was moving around out there today. Kai dropping into a solid one!

Brian Scott

Kai’s got no hesitation whatsoever on going on anything out there. That’s why he makes this wave look so easy.

Brian Scott

Only a very small handful of surfers out there the entire day. Otherwise the lineup pretty much looked like this most of today.

Brian Scott

Jenner was one of the select few who timed it right and caught todays magic hour.

Brian Scott

Aside from the rips and dodging real big sets when paddling back out, punting this end section was maybe the easiest part of surfing out there this afternoon.

Brian Scott

Chris linking up on a nice one while the homie Ricky gets the front row seats view and capture.

Brian Scott

Cruising past the portrait section, now it’s time for some sick barrel section.

Brian Scott

Chris is an absolute tube specialist, and that claim doesn’t come much too easy especially if you’ve ever seen some of the secret spots he’s dialed in all up and down this coast.

Brian Scott

XXL or small.

Brian Scott

You’ll more times than not see him doing this…. getting spit out of most barrels he paddles into.

Brian Scott

The job of filming and photography is 100% essential. Just ask any surfer.

Brian Scott

There were hardly any lefts coming in. I was surprised to see someone cracking one off the top like this way down the line. Sick one Matt!

Brian Scott

You all know whenever there is heavy waves, there are always some heavy wipeouts. Poor Hayden getting hung up on one of the best waves of the day. However in his defense, although he completely airdropped the entire face of this wave, he pretty much stuck the landing, but got annihilated by that massive wall of water that detonated on him. Good try amigo…. Good try!

Brian Scott

I know you’re curious to see how the wave looked after he got steam rolled.….. well, here ya go. OUCH!!!

Brian Scott

Kai on more playful sized perfect little barrel.

Brian Scott

Same size but different angle of just how magical that little window was for them.

Brian Scott

Another one coming out with that spit! Noting feels better!!

Brian Scott

Well, maybe wrapping it up with a big wrap around like this. Yeah…. all that combined feels the BEST!

Brian Scott

I saved the best sequence and longest wave I saw out there today for you’re closing viewing pleasure. Mateo dropping in nicely to a good sized set wave.

Brian Scott

and setting it up for a really really long and multilayered barrel.

Brian Scott

I wish I had the angle from way down the beach into the barrel on this one. It looks really square and super hollow.

Brian Scott

One of the few frames to select from where you can still see him.

Brian Scott

Here you can start to see how far he drove in this thing coming up on the shallow water section over the sand.

Brian Scott

Still going…..

Brian Scott

There’s still more of this thing… it wound’t stop!

Brian Scott

Finally with the clean exit and one hell of a drainer for today! Nice one buddy! Bravo!

Brian Scott
