Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Good morning everybody and happy humpday! Parker here checking in for some bumpy shots of the morning. Also, there is some other action in the back half of the report so check it out amigos!!

During the start of the rainy season (and end of it), you never know what you're going to get. Some days are glassy all day with some moments of onshore. Then other days, like today, are grey, onshore, and messy. Roger Hoch still getting after it despite the unfavorable conditions.

If you're an aerial surfer or you have a few days to spare on tour (cough cough Filipe), it's perfect right now! Horseshores offered a couple fun rampy sections.

Today was a struggle to surf so I pulled the friend card and asked my NICA hermano Hilario to go snag something for the report. If you aren't feeling the waves, talk to me about other options: live volcanoes, artisan markets, breweries, zip lining, community lifestyle tours, in-home massages, and a couple other fun activities.

Dale Hilario!!! Eggs, French toast, pancakes, and fresh fruit at my house in one hour!

The rainy season has plenty of perks. For example, the mornings are crisp and rich, the fishing turns on, and all the plants come to life! We appreciate all the seasons and their change.

Do you know what’s awesome about our community? When the surf isn’t happening, you have a beautiful 9 hole golf course in your backyard. Check out some of the scramble fun!

On Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, the golf committee hosts a weekly scramble. That means you get in teams of 4 and play best ball. Jamie Kocher getting us started off.

What is a scramble without Uncle Billy?!?! He’s a solid golfer but an even more fun guy to have on your team. He’ll recount his war hero stories from the Battle of Little Bighorn. What about being a 4 star general?

The ringleader of the scramble is Dan Springfield. If you appreciate the weekly golf events, poker nights, or volleyball games, Dan is the guy to thank. Him and his wife Stacey do a great job of bringing the community together.

Which attracts new faces like Keith and Denise. They moved down here about six months ago looking for a change (and working remote). Since then, they’ve become part of the community and friendly faces in the area.

I guess that isn’t hard when your wife is under par on every hole… No wonder they are looking to build a house nearby the golf course. Keith, we can’t let Denise hit the ball farther than you on every hole!!!

Ok, first shot on the dog leg right is done. Let’s go find our balls and see who has the best shot to play. If there is a cart to hop in for the scramble, it’s the Springfield/Chapman cart. All the pretty girls were waving to them (well, just Mr. Bashful Billy) as they drove by.

Danimal’s ball it is and you’re up first hombre! We want to give him a big congrats to him for renewing his contract with N5 for a 7 figure (Cordoba) deal. Next up: contract negotiations with Tona. He’s a great golfer so that’s why they pay him the big bucks.

Ok Uncle Billy, save our par and get us near the hole!!! As much as Bill and I tease each other, I have a lot of respect for him and it’s impossible to hang out with him without smiling, laughing, and having a good memorable time. I think it’s time for another Rivas run (AKA Burger King run) soon, huh Billy?

Bill almost got it in... close but no cigar (shocker). Jamie went to chip it in and just missed by a hair too…

That’s ok, I’ll rely on Mr. HOA President to tap it in for par and send us to the next hole!

Some us continued the scramble and then some of us got to it (as in work). If you need a break from the surf or the surf isn’t doing much, talk to me so I can give you information about the scramble. Remember, pack a cooler with some cold ones and send or two Danimal or Uncle Billy’s way! Thank you all for tuning in today. Hasta luego amigos!
